Saving the world, one crab at a time! 🦀✨

The Mustang Environmental Club headed down to Cape May County for their 2nd Annual Horseshoe Crab Rescue, led by reTurn the Favor volunteer and teacher, Lauren Kurzius.

The stats speak for themselves:
🦀 260 horseshoe crabs successfully flipped and rescued!
⬆️ A massive 94% increase in the number of crabs saved compared to last year.
⏰ 5 hours of meaningful community service completed.

Did you know these "living fossils" have been around for over 450 million years? They are vital to our coastal ecosystems—providing food for migrating shorebirds (like the red knot) and contributing to life-saving biomedical testing. All of our scientific data collection was permitted by the NJDEP.

Beyond the rescue, the Environmental Club got to see nature at its finest with sightings of migrating shorebirds, sea cucumbers, and even Atlantic dolphins! 🐬

⚠️ IMPORTANT TRAFFIC & SAFETY UPDATE ⚠️

The North 13th Avenue crossing will be CLOSED for maintenance and track replacement from June 8 to June 10.

During this time, all vehicle and pedestrian access will be restricted. This will impact our school community, and we need your help to keep everyone safe.

Here is what you need to know:
🚶‍♂️ Expect Detours: Students who usually walk will need to take longer alternate routes or arrange for rides.
🚗 Traffic Delays: Expect higher-than-normal congestion around our campuses. Please plan ahead and allow for significant extra travel time during these three days.
🛑 Safety First: Please talk to your children about following designated detour routes. No shortcut is worth risking their well-being. Students must never attempt to cross the tracks at unauthorized locations.

An Update from our Superintendent 💙💛

Last night, our Superintendent, Dr. Jamil Maroun, shared that he has accepted a new professional opportunity and will be stepping down from his position as Manville's Superintendent. While it was not an easy decision to leave the Manville community, which has truly become a home, he wanted to share a personal video message to reflect on the last decade together.

"Serving the Manville School District has been the greatest honor of my career... Over the past decade, we have accomplished so much together. We navigated extraordinary challenges, celebrated incredible successes, and remained committed to our shared mission of supporting every child, every day."

We are deeply grateful for Dr. Maroun's leadership, dedication, and the incredible impact he's made on our students, staff, and families.

Real world, real choices! 💸 We are thrilled to partner with Manville Credit Union once again to bring the 2026 Financial Reality Fair to our juniors on Wednesday, June 3rd!

This hands-on, interactive experience gives the Class of 2027 a taste of the real world. Students will pick a career, grab their starting salary, and navigate a monthly budget—paying for housing, food, transportation, and trying to resist those temptation spend zones! After hitting the booths, they’ll sit down with a financial counselor to see how well they balanced their wants vs. needs. 📊✨

⏰ When: Wednesday, June 3rd @ 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM (During Flex/Lunch)
📍 Where: The Gym
📌 Note for Juniors: Report to your Flex period first for attendance. You will be called down over the loudspeaker at 11:00 AM!

⚡️ MONSTROUS WEEKEND AT THE GROUP 1 STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS! ⚡️

The Mustangs absolutely crushed it this weekend, bringing home medals, school records, and tickets to the Meet of Champions! 🏆✨

The Highlights:
🥇 Jayran Rodriguez: STATE CHAMPION x2! Jayran won BOTH the 1600m and 3200m. He smashed the 3200m school record with a blistering 9:17 (winning by 8 seconds!) and is now ranked #8 in NJ. This completes his incredible seasonal trifecta—4 individual group titles this year!
🥈 Kamille Aly: Smashed the school high jump record, clearing 5-2 to take 2nd place and punching her ticket to the Meet of Champions!
🏅 Damian Smutek & Gabriel Zala: The senior duo wrapped up their historic careers in style, fighting for 4th and 5th place in the 800m.
🏅 Jayde Thompson: Battled hard to take 6th place in the 200m to round out the girls' medals!

Next stop: Meet of Champions! Let’s go Mustangs! 🐎💨
