2026 Property Taxes

Ad valorem taxes are available for inquiry and payment online at our website and paper tax notices are being prepared for mailing.

Payments can be made:

*over the phone by calling 318-256-9241 option 1,

*in our office at 400 S Capitol St Room 105 in Many,

*wait to receive your tax statement and return it in the mail.

Forms of payment include cash, money order, personal check or debit/credit card.

Please be advised a service charge will be assessed for debit/credit card payments.

2026 property tax statements will be mailed to Sabine Parish property owners in the next few weeks.

Payments are due by December 31, 2026.

If you are waiting to return your payment in the mail, please include the payment remittance sheet that can be torn off the bottom of the statement.

Please do not mail cash.

Halloween Safety 2026

Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office: Before Halloween, Families Should Check S*x Offender Registry and Download the Free Sabine Parish Sheriff

Many, LA—There are approximately 110 registered s*x offenders in Sabine Parish, and the Sheriff’s Office wants parents to know which houses their children should avoid when trick-or-treating.

On Halloween evening, October 31, 2026, Sabine Parish Sheriff Deputies and Louisiana State Probation and Parole Agents will be monitoring the residences of convicted s*x offenders throughout Sabine Parish. According to Louisiana state law, registered s*x offenders are prohibited from giving out candy or wearing Halloween masks. Neighbors will be encouraged to report any violations to the Sheriff’s Office.

“Registered s*x offenders report their home address to us. If you are going trick-or-treating, visit our Sabine Parish Sheriff App to see whose door you don’t want to knock on,” says Sheriff Aaron Mitchell. “Parents should search for offenders on their trick-or-treat route, and near any addresses where their children spend time. The search and maps on the App pinpoints where offenders live.” On our Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office website, citizens can also sign up for free email notifications from the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office should an offender move into their neighborhood or around an address important to the parent.

“If you aren’t planning on trick-or-treating in your neighborhood, but will be in a family or friend’s neighborhood, search their address beforehand so you know which houses to avoid,” says Sheriff Aaron Mitchell.

The OffenderWatch App is a free app partnered with law enforcement to inform families on registered s*x offenders. Parents can find s*x offenders near them, track their children while they are trick-or-treating and receive updates from law enforcement.

A Fire Weather Watch is quite rare for our region with Gulf moisture typically abundant as observed for much of this week. However, a strong cold front will arrive on Friday and usher in very dry air along with gusty north winds, prompting the issuance of a Fire Weather Watch.

Just before 11 p.m. Sunday, October 11th the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office and Vernon Parish E 911 Communications Center began to receive phone calls in relation to a shooting that took place at Jeane Chapel Trailer Park in Leesville.

Deputies and first responders arrived at the scene and located an unresponsive male subject suffering from gun shot wounds.

Life saving efforts were administered and the victim was transported to an area medical facility for treatment.

Detectives learned that the victim, 20 year old Jackson Malone, passed away from his injuries at approximately 4 a.m. Monday morning.

After further investigation into the incident Detectives learned from witnesses that two men were responsible for the shooting of the victim.

Witnesses indicated that the suspects had fled the area in a green Nissan Titan pickup truck.

Amarion Davis, aka Man Man - age 19, and Khamarre Carthan, aka K3 - age 20, both of Leesville have been identified as the persons responsible for the murder.

VPSO is asking anyone with any information relating to the whereabouts of Davis or Carthan to contact VPSO immediately at 337-238-1311.

Sheriff Craft and the employees of the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office would like to offer our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the victim.

Deputies Attend LCA Conference

Sheriff Aaron Mitchell reports Assistant Warden Kaylynn Remedies, Sgt Zack Sterling, and Sgt Sarah Moser attended the 11th Annual Louisiana Correctional Association Conference in Lake Charles this week.

These deputies learned about the latest trends and technology in the field of corrections and were able to discuss current issues with other correctional employees from across the State of Louisiana.

Some of the training seminars offered were:

"The Calvary is Coming, and it is not to replace the men and woman who walk the floors" - how artificial intelligence (AI) is being used in jails and prisons not to replace jailers but to help them better protect the prisoners.

"CIPRS (Corrections Information Program and Records System)" - the new preclass program that will eventually take the place of CAJUN, the program currently used by the state.

"Bridging Worlds, Building Trust" - influence and impact across disciplines about keeping your rules fair and consistent for all offenders and if you tell them you will do something that you follow through.

"Power of Presence" - how your presence in the jail will help deter incidents.

"LAVNS (Louisiana Automated Victim Notification System) and VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday) Evolution" - how to track offenders and the purpose of LAVNS and how the whole law came about.

"Beyond Safety: Supporting Mental Health and Wellness in Corrections" - how to take care of yourself and your own state of mind and how to not take the job home to your family.

"Fueling Resilience: Leading Through Pressure" - how to manage stress and pressure when everyone wants an answer to solve problems.

Sheriff's Office Equips Patrol Units with AEDs

Sabine Parish Sheriff Patrol Shift Supervisors and the Marine Unit now have AEDs on board for emergency situations.

An AED (automated external defibrillator) is a portable medical device that analyzes the heart's rhythm and delivers an electrical shock during sudden cardiac arrest to help re-establish a normal heartbeat.

Sheriff Aaron Mitchell said, "...these AEDs will be invaluable when deputies are the first to arrive at the scene of a medical emergency. Having this equipment readily available allows our deputies to provide potentially life-saving assistance while waiting for EMS to arrive.”

All Sheriff Deputies receive training bi-annually in First-Aid, CPR, and AED operation through our local ambulance service.

AEDs are also currently placed at the Sabine Parish Detention Center and Women's Jail.

The Sheriff's Office recently purchased these devices from the Stryker Corporation.
