‼️NOW HIRING‼️

Central Sabine Fire District is now taking applications for the position of part time firefighters.
Our department staffs one station 24 hours/365 days of the year with three firefighters per shift.
Our department allows the part time firefighters to pursue EMR, HazMat Awareness, HazMat Operations, Firefighter 1, and Firefighter 2. Other certifications will also be available throughout the course of the year. Pay is based on certifications.
All applicants must be:
18 years or older and have a legal valid driver’s license. Applicant will have one year to acquire the Emergency Medical Responder certification.

We will be accepting applications through Wednesday September 30, 2026.

We are currently experiencing phone line and internet service issues at our Central Station.
If you have an emergency, PLEASE CALL 911.

For any non-emergency concerns or information that we need to be made aware of, please contact the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office. They can relay the message to us while our phone and internet services are down.

Dry conditions are continuing, and we’re expecting another day of extreme heat and heightened fire danger in our area.

🔥INCREASED FIRE DANGER🔥
Worsening drought conditions and shifting winds will contribute to increased fire danger beginning Saturday. Sabine Parish is now under a BURN BAN prohibiting all outdoor burning.

We ask everyone to remain vigilant and do their part to help prevent wildfires:
• Do NOT burn outdoors while the burn ban is in effect.
• Secure all dragging chains on trailers and vehicles.
• Never throw ci******es out of vehicle windows.
• When grilling outdoors, keep a close water source nearby and never leave a grill unattended.

Report smoke or fire before it has a chance to spread.

With dry vegetation and changing wind conditions, a small spark can quickly become a large, dangerous fire.

With dry conditions continuing across our area, a parish-wide burn ban is now in effect.
Over the past several weeks, all three fire districts have seen a significant increase in woods and grass fires. These fires not only place a strain on our community and resources, but also on our firefighters and first responders.
Our goal is simple: keep our community and our first responders safe and informed.

⚠️Please help us by following the burn ban, avoiding outdoor burning, and sharing this information with your family, friends, and neighbors.

⚠️ Dry conditions can turn a small fire into a large, uncontrollable fire very quickly.

Stay safe. Stay informed. And please—DO NOT BURN!

July kept our crews busy! We responded to 14 more calls than the previous month, and two areas saw a noticeable increase in activity: EMS calls and woods/grass fires.

📊 WHAT WE’RE SEEING

-WOODS/GRASS FIRES
Dry conditions continue to create a serious fire danger throughout our area. With drought conditions persisting, vegetation can ignite easily and fires can spread much faster than expected.

-EMS CALLS
The summer heat played a major role in the increase in EMS calls. Heat exhaustion and heat stroke can happen quickly, especially during prolonged outdoor activity.

Our crews are always ready to respond, but the best emergency is the one we can prevent.
Please stay safe, stay hydrated, and think before you burn!

⚠️HEAT ADVISORY THROUGH TUESDAY⚠️

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Heat Advisory for our area through Tuesday at 8:00 PM.
Expected conditions include:
🌡️ High temperatures in the upper 90s to lower 100s
🔥 Heat index values up to 110°
⚠️ Dangerous heat conditions across the entire Four State region
Please take precautions to protect yourself and your family:
💧 Stay hydrated
🕶️ Limit strenuous outdoor activity during the afternoon
👕 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing
👶 Check on children, elderly family members, and pets frequently
🚗 Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle

-Heat-related illness can happen quickly-

Signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke include:
Dizziness
Nausea
Confusion
Rapid pulse
Hot, dry skin
Loss of consciousness

If someone is experiencing a heat emergency, call 911 immediately.
Central Sabine Fire District encourages everyone to take this heat seriously and make plans to stay cool through Tuesday evening.
Continue to monitor local weather updates and follow guidance from the National Weather Service.
