GMM NOVEMBER 2023 PROXY E-VOTING
PLEASE REPLY BELOW BY NOON THURSDAY NOVEMBER 30th
1. PHC condemns the insane cycle of violence unleashed by the Hamas invasion of Israel on October 7th, in which over a thousand Israeli civilians were murdered and over two hundred taken hostage, and Israel’s bloodthirsty retaliation, which has killed over 10,000 civilians in Gaza. Both are war crimes. Neither side is more secure, Palestinian nationalists are no closer to a ‘Free Palestine from the River to the Sea,’ and Zionist nationalists are no closer to a ’Greater Israel.’ The only casualties are the hope for a peaceful solution, over 11,000 innocent civilian lives…and sanity.
2. PHC reasserts its principled position as an antiwar organization. War is not the way.
3. PHC condemns independent Presidential candidate Cornel West for the shocking revelation that he accepted a $3,300 campaign contribution from N**i billionaire Harlan Crow, the long-time Sugar Daddy of corrupt Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. West’s association with such an individual, let alone his accepting campaign money from him. plus his previously undisclosed friendship with Crow, seriously undermines West’s claims to moral leadership.
4. PHC expresses its deep disappointment in Bernie Sanders’ decision to go no further than calling for humanitarian pauses on fighting in Gaza, to bring in food and medicine, rather than a permanent (not temporary) ceasefire (as PHC has demanded).
5. PHC condemns in the strongest terms Donald Trump’s explicit turn toward open fascism, as revealed in his recent promise to dissolve the US Constitution if he returns to the Presidency. Trump is a profound threat to American society. Trump must be stopped.
6. PHC also strongly condemns Trump’s shocking comments recently that he will “root out” all leftists, communists, Marxists, and his reference to his opponents as “vermin” (as Hi**er called the objects of his hatred). This is rhetoric not heard in anything close to mainstream political discourse in the US since the German Fifth Columnists before WWII.
7. PHC condemns the delayed and half-hearted response to Trump’s threat by President Biden and his AG, Merrick Garland. Their delays in bringing indictments against Trump may allow him to win back the Presidency, a catastrophe in the making.
8. PHC condemns the anti-working class policies imposed by Biden (including appointing a Fed Chair who has raised interest rates to prevent wage growth while prices and profits soar, while the real median income fell by $2080, or 2.7%, in Biden’s 1st two years in office – producing an increase in Americans in financial hardship from 32% to 39%, & an increase in hunger from 10.5% to 11.2%, or 19.7 million in September/October ’21 to 27.8 million in September/October ‘23). Biden’s catastrophic economic policies have driven his approval ratings even lower than a now openly fascist Trump’s and allowed Trump to take a lead over Biden for the upcoming election.
9. PHC demands that the Democratic Party, to block Trump’s return to the White House, pressure Biden to take LBJ’s route in 1968 and withdraw from the ’24 Presidential race.
10. PHC condemns in the strongest possible terms the latest, shocking attempt to further gut the Voting Rights Act by the 8th Circuit Federal Appeals Court, Because that Act does not specifically allow anyone other than the Department of Justice to sue to enforce its provisions, individuals AND NGO’s (like the NAACP), are now precluded from suing for enforcement in court. This novel theory, upheld in a 2-1 decision by judges appointed by Trump & W, defies decades of precedents in which thousands of suits for enforcement of the Voting Rights Act by both individuals and civil & human rights NGO’s have been filed and accepted by the courts. The 8th Circuit decision makes the Act unenforceable if the DOJ were under a racist extremist like Trump. SCOTUS must reverse this decision.
11. PHC notes with deep sadness the 60th anniversary of the assassination of JFK and condemns both Joe Biden’s refusal to release the four thousand remaining secret documents, and to place all future decisions to release or not release those documents in the hands of the CIA, a credible suspect in the assassination.
12. PHC is strongly condemns the decision by a judge in Nevada to block a 2024 referendum on Reproductive Rights, on the bizarre premise that the component parts comprising Reproductive Rights in the ballot initiative (abortion, birth control, prenatal care, and post-partum care) are actually separate issues. And since Nevada law limits referendums to single issues, the referendum cannot proceed. This is an obvious attempt to block the same kind of Reproductive Rights referendum that has passed easily in several other states from appearing on the ballot in Nevada. This ruling must be overturned.
13. PHC strongly condemns the repeated verbal assaults by Stuart Seldowitz, a former State Department official in the Clinton, Bush II, & Obama Administrations, against a halal food cart vendor in Manhattan. His comments included stating that the deaths of four thousand children in Gaza during Israel’s counterattack against Hamas after its invasion of Israel on October 7th were not enough. It is shocking that Seldowitz served in sections of the State Department that dealt with Israel-Palestine policy. PHC commends the NYPD for charging Seldowitz with hate crimes.
