The Conservation Board coordinates the Bedford chapter of DEC's Amphibian Migrations and Road Crossings Project. Early each spring, on the first warm rainy nights, frogs and salamanders migrate en masse from forest uplands to the ponds and vernal pools where they breed. Many of them need to cross roads to get there, and many of them don't make it. Learn more about how we are helping these vulnerable creatures at a meeting on February 25 at 11am at the Bedford Free Library. Volunteering involves being out on the roads at night, so it is for adults, with teenagers 14-17 eligible to attend with a parent. Please contact Gentian Falstrom at [email protected] to register or for more information.
