Hey- it’s Lake Wilderness Arboretum Day!

🌳 Lake Wilderness Arboretum Day 🪻

The Maple Valley City Council proclaimed today, Saturday, November 1 as Lake Wilderness Arboretum Day. The arboretum is celebrating its 60th birthday this year.

George Tersiisky, who taught Horticulture at Kent-Meridian High School, led a group of volunteers in 1965 looking at many properties before landing at the current site of the arboretum.

It spans 42 acres and consists of 5 display gardens. The arboretum is still overseen by a volunteer board with a small part-time staff of three employees. They also work closely with many groups in Maple Valley including: Maple Valley Creative Arts Council, Maple Valley Library, Tahoma School District and more!

We invite you to take a stroll through the arboretum and help us celebrate 60 years!
