🚧 Mapleton Parkway Trail Maintenance – Monday

Heads up, trail users! Crews will be working along the Mapleton Parkway Trail on Monday to stripe the center line.

To safely complete the work, the trail will be temporarily closed in approximately 1-mile sections as crews make their way from north to south. As work is completed in each section, crews will continue moving along the trail.

🚶‍♀️🚴‍♂️ If you use the Parkway for walking, running, or biking, please plan accordingly and watch for crews and temporary closures.

We appreciate your patience as we work to keep the Mapleton Parkway maintained and safe for everyone!

🏛️ Mapleton City Council Meeting – Tomorrow at 6:00 PM

The Mapleton City Council will meet tomorrow evening, and this week's agenda includes an opportunity to recognize and welcome some of the people who serve our community.

🚒 Recognition of Mapleton City employees involved in a recent trench rescue

🚓🚒 Swearing in of new Police Officers and a Fire Engineer

The Council will also consider routine consent agenda items, including an electrical and SCADA controls upgrade at the 2000 North Lift Station.

Residents are welcome to attend, and the Public Forum provides an opportunity to address the Mayor and City Council on items not listed on the agenda.

🚦 Heads Up, Mapleton! A New 4-Way Stop is Now in Place at 1200 North & Main Street.

With the new school year just around the corner, we want to make everyone aware of a new 4-way stop at the intersection of 1200 North & Main Street.

This intersection now meets state and national guidelines for a 4-way stop based on traffic volumes, crash history, and the number of pedestrians and bicyclists using the area.

Located near Mapleton Junior High and just down the street from Hobble Creek Elementary, this intersection is a key route for many students walking and biking to school.

To help everyone adjust to the new traffic pattern:
🚸 Advance warning signs have been installed.
🚦 The stop signs feature flashing beacons for added visibility.
🚔 Temporary "New Traffic Pattern" signs and increased police patrols will also be in place as the school year begins.

Slow down. Stop. Look twice. 🚸

As students return to school, help keep our roads safe by watching for pedestrians, bicyclists, and other vehicles at every approach to the intersection.

🏛️ Mapleton City Council Meeting – Wednesday at 6:00 PM

The Mapleton City Council will meet Wednesday at 6:00 PM in the City Council Chambers. Residents are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Highlights from this meeting include:
🌳 Public Hearing: Consideration of an ordinance to amend the General Plan Future Land Use Map and rezone approximately 9 acres near 3700 South Mapleton Heights Drive from General Commercial to Open Space and Parks to accommodate a future City park.

Consent Agenda:
🚧 Consideration of agreements and funding related to the US-89 improvement project and the Public Works Building & Yard Phase 1 Project.
🛠️ Consideration of purchasing equipment to support ongoing street maintenance and infrastructure improvements.

Today we celebrate the pioneer spirit that helped build our community and continues to inspire the small-town, big-heart values that make Mapleton such a special place to call home. As we celebrate 125 years, we're grateful for our heritage, our neighbors, and the community we've built together.

🎆 If you're celebrating with fireworks today, please do so safely and responsibly. Be sure to check the fireworks restriction map before lighting fireworks, and always be aware of your surroundings.

Mapleton City offices will be closed on Friday, July 24, in observance of Pioneer Day.

As you celebrate with family and friends, we encourage everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly. If you're using fireworks, please follow all local restrictions, be aware of your surroundings, and help keep our community safe.

City offices will resume normal business hours on Monday.
