Tonight, the Maplewood Police Department will be participating in an area-wide saturation patrol focused on identifying and removing intoxicated drivers from our roadways.

Heads up, Maplewood!

Big Bend will be closed to traffic between Sunnen Drive and Oxford Boulevard while crews remove the existing bridges at Greenwood Boulevard and Pacific Avenue.

📅 Closure begins: Friday, August 28 at 10 PM
📅 Reopens: Monday, August 31 at 5 AM

Drivers should plan ahead and use Laclede Station Road and South Hanley Road as alternate routes.

Once Big Bend reopens Monday morning, traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction for the majority of bridge construction.

Please allow extra travel time and use caution when traveling through the area.

With students heading back to school next week, everyone has a role in keeping our kids safe.

As you travel through Maplewood, remember to:
• Slow down and obey posted school zone speed limits.
• Watch for children who may cross unexpectedly.
• Stop for school crossing guards and follow their directions.
• Never pass a school bus when its stop arm is extended and red lights are flashing.
• Give yourself extra time during morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal.
• Put your phone away and stay focused behind the wheel.
A little extra patience and attention can make a big difference.

New Alternative Vehicle Regulations Are Now in Effect

The Maplewood City Council has adopted new regulations that clarify where bicycles, e-bikes, scooters, skateboards, ATVs, mini-bikes, and other alternative vehicles may be operated within the city. The ordinance is intended to improve safety for riders, pedestrians, and motorists while providing clear, consistent rules throughout Maplewood.

Please plan ahead and allow extra travel time as construction begins to replace the Big Bend bridges at Pacific Avenue and Greenwood Boulevard.

Heads up, Maplewood! St. Louis County will begin preparatory work the week of July 6 for the replacement of the Big Bend bridges at Pacific Avenue and Greenwood Boulevard.

Message boards are now in place, and project notification postcards are being mailed to nearby residents and businesses.

Beginning the week of July 13, expect:
• Ramp closures
• Lane closures on Big Bend (mid to late July)

The Maplewood Police Department has a new patch.

As part of the City's new brand identity, the Police Department patch has been updated to create a stronger visual connection with the City of Maplewood's new logo and branding.

The new design incorporates the City's maple leaf icon while maintaining a professional law-enforcement appearance that reflects the department's commitment to serving the community.

While the patch has a new look, our mission remains unchanged: preventing crime, protecting life and property, preserving peace and safety, and building partnerships with the residents and businesses we serve.

On May 29, 2026, the Maplewood Police Department responded to multiple vehicle burglaries in the Ward 2 area of the city, including Bellevue, Bruno, Alameda, Lyndover, and Yale. The incidents occurred between approximately 2:50 a.m. and 3:15 a.m.

City of Maplewood Public Safety Cameras, along with Flock Safety cameras, helped identify a suspect vehicle linked to these incidents. The vehicle had previously been reported stolen from another jurisdiction and has been linked to multiple crimes throughout the region. It was occupied by at least four individuals, one of whom was observed to be armed with a firearm.

Residents are strongly reminded not to leave any valuables in their vehicles.

For your safety:
• Do not confront individuals suspected of committing vehicle burglaries.
• If you observe suspicious activity or a vehicle burglary in progress, call 911 immediately.

Detectives are actively working with surrounding jurisdictions to identify the individuals involved. Anyone with additional information or relevant video footage is encouraged to contact the Maplewood Police Department Detective Bureau at 314-646-3617.
