🍁 It's maple syrup season! Harambee students recently learned all about maple syrup, including its origins in indigenous culture, and the process of tapping, collecting, and boiling sap to make syrup!

The class taste tested and noted the differences between "pancake" syrup with 15 ingredients and pure maple syrup, with just one ingredient.

Some liked it more than others. 😆

Harambee Elementary School proudly hosted Nashke Games with founders Tony Drews and Mindy Meyers, joined by district staff Gabriella Carroll and Savanna Rojas. Students learned Ojibwe language, history, and culture through storytelling and Makizinataagewin: The Moccasin Game!

"This was an amazing experience for our students and staff that was made possible through a Roseville Area Community Foundation grant," explained Environmental Education Specialist Jenny Eckman. "It was incredible to see how quickly the kids were using Ojibwe words and to see the big smiles and positive energy." 🧡 💙
