Friends of St. Paul-Changsha Friendship Garden at Phalen Park

Friends of St. Paul-Changsha Friendship Garden at Phalen Park To establish China Friendship Gardens in Minnesota to further promote friendship and understanding between the peoples of China and Minnesota.

The Minnesota China Friendship Garden Society is working with the city of Changsha, Hunan Province in China, and the St. Paul Parks and Recreation Department to create a China Garden at Phalen Park next to the beautiful Lake Phalen. This is a sister-city China friendship garden with Changsha-style architecture. Changsha has been the sister-city of St. Paul, Minnesota since 1988.

On 8/27, we honored Mary Warpeha who, after 21 years as a Director on the MCFGS Board and 26 years of being involved with the China Garden project, is leaving the Board and joining the MCFGS Honorary Advisory Council. A Memorial Tree in the China Friendship Garden has been dedicated in her honor. Thank you, Mary!!

Congratulations to our three new Directors, Ben Brown, Lis Sundberg, Karen Yuan, for the MN China Friendship Garden Society and our new President, Brian Hammer. We had a very successful annual meeting and potluck dinner last night, hosted at the home of Bill Zajicek and Romi Slowiak.
