Our goal in presenting the Back to School Fair each year is to make our families feel as prepared as possible for the new school year. Thanks to every family, student, staffer and community contributor who made Saturday's event so special. Take a look!

Thanks to YOUR generosity, Blue & White Night at Maplewood Richmond Heights High School raised more than $500 in cash donations, plus as-yet untabulated online contributions, for the MRH food pantry Weekend On Wheels! What's more, WOW received 250 food items on the spot. We need to thank the attendees, the coaches and players, and the Boosters for keeping everyone well-fed. Let's do it again next year!

The Maplewood Richmond Heights School Board tonight was introduced to the incoming members of the Principals Advisory Leadership (PAL) Board. Now in its 3rd year at MRH, the PAL Board system allows students to serve as advisors (non-voting) to the Board of Education, and as representatives and advocates for all levels of the student body. Their roles include providing insights and perspectives that contribute to discussions and deliberations on matters that could potentially influence the thinking of Board members.

The Board of Education saluted David Ganey, biology teacher at Maplewood Richmond Heights High School, for receiving the Outstanding Biology Teacher Award (OBTA) from the National Association of Biology Teachers. This prestigious award honors educators who demonstrate excellence in biology instruction, a strong commitment to student learning, and significant contributions to science education.

The Board of Education also recognized Joe’s Place, the residence for unhoused boys in the MRH District, for its 20 years of service. Joe's Place opened its doors in December 2006. Since then, it has gone on to serve 39 residents, 38 of them who have graduated for a 97.4% graduation rate. The national graduation rate for unhoused high school students ranges from 55% - 69%. Later in the meeting, the Board voted to renew the District’s agreement with Joe’s Place, which is responsible for its own liability insurance, staff expenses, appliances, and supplies. MRH covers utilities, major system maintenance, and repairs.

For a synopsis of the Board's business agenda, read "Board Briefs" on our website.

Back to School Fair

Returning for its 4th year, the MRH Back to School Fair comes alive on Saturday, August 22. Once again, the festivities will take place at the High School Commons and Gymnasium from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Plenty of parking is available on the High School lot at 7500 Lohmeyer Avenue in Maplewood. This is your opportunity to meet building and District administrators, enjoy refreshments and FREE food truck treats, face painting, fun giveaways including school supplies, and purchase vintage Blue Devil athletic gear to support student programs. This is a rain-or-shine event, so we hope to see everyone on August 22!

Why is every member of the MRH Nutrition Services team smiling here? Because they're beginning the new school year with radically upgraded kitchen spaces and equipment.

And also because there's a camera pointed at them.
