The Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT), in partnership with 20+ cities and counties, is applying to receive federal grant funding to replace both the Morehead Bridge over the Maquoketa River on 74th Street, and the bridge on 407th Avenue over Duck Creek. We need your help by completing a brief survey in the link below! Your answers will be used to support the grant application. This online survey will take less than five minutes to complete. ATTENTION:
Starting on Wednesday April 8th, the bridge on 362nd Avenue (Z15) over Duck Creek will close for replacement. Construction is expected to last approximately 4 months. The Morehead Bridge over the Maquoketa River on 74th Street is now reopen after successful completion of lower chord repairs. The bridge is still limited to the restricted weight posting, but is open to traffic. Thank you for your patience.

Last week, Jackson County was awarded the statewide Secondary Road Smoothness Award from the Asphalt Paving Association of Iowa (APAI) for this past summer's 435th Avenue (Z34) HMA overlay. River City Paving was the contractor for the project. This is the first ever smoothness award Jackson County has been awarded. A great cooperative effort between the contractor and County. All Jackson County trucks and motorgraders will return to the roadways tomorrow morning at 5:00 A.M and plow until 5:30 P.M.. Continuing snowfall tonight and windy conditions will make travel difficult. Travel is not advised. Thank you for your patience as our crews work throughout the weekend clearing the roadways.
