Yesterday, members of Marana PD attended the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) luncheon in Chandler, AZ with many other of our law enforcement partners from around the state. This was a special event, in which several agencies were recognized for being top fundraising agencies. Marana PD was honored to be one of these top fundraising agencies. We are able to do this through events like Tip-a-Cop and the law enforcement torch run.

We would also like to take a moment to recognize Joe Curran, who will be retiring from Special Olympics Arizona. Joe was a police officer for several years and got involved in LETR during his days early on. After he retired from law enforcement, Joe continued his passion, which was promoting Special Olympics for the athletes.

Yesterday, Joe was honored by the LETR team and his long time friend and Special Olympics athlete, George, who Joe has known for years. Joe was officially inducted as the 5th person ever into the Arizona Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Hall of Fame!

Joe has been a great asset to the team and instrumental in coordinating with law enforcement agencies around Arizona as the main point of contact for fundraising initiatives. Joe will be greatly missed and his legacy will continue on. Thank you for your partnership and years of service! Congratulations on your upcoming retirement Joe, we are very happy for you!

The Marana Police Department and the Marana Police Volunteers Foundation were proud to present checks totaling $18,000 to the Marana Food Bank and the 100 Club of Arizona on Tuesday, May 26. Each organization received $9,000 from proceeds raised during the 2025 “Pride 4 The Patch” Golf Tournament.

This event would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors, CORE Construction, Waste Management, and the Marana Police Volunteers Foundation.

Thank you to everyone who participated, sponsored, and supported this event to help make a positive impact in our community.
