Marble Falls TX The Falls on the Colorado Museum The Museum is open Mondays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.; 2001 Broadway St. Donations are welcomed.

Our Mission is to preserve our history, to further our heritage, to protect artifacts, and to provide an ongoing history of Marble Falls and the surrounding communities. The Museum is open to the public, but COVID precautions are followed as appropriate. Mailing address is Falls on the Colorado Museum; P.O.Box 1333; Marble Falls, TX 78654. The Museum has changing exhibits throughout the year.

On August 1, the museum returns to regular hours, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays.

If you didn’t know, the Museum is housed in the original school building built in 1891. The Old Granite School building was used by the MFISD until around 2000 and is still part of campus.
Former students who visit the Museum almost always have memories of the old fire escape located in the back. That fire escape is still there.

If anyone has memories of the fire escape or of going to class in the old school building, please share below.

The Falls on the Colorado Museum (FOCM) in Marble Falls invites the public to view a new temporary exhibit, Texas America250, from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) from June 23 through the end of July.

The Texas America250 exhibit highlights historically significant Texas Treasures from the State Archives, encouraging all Americans to explore the story of the Lone Star State over the past 250 years. From Spanish missions to the space race, the landscape, culture, economy and people of Texas have played essential roles in the development of the United States.

21 years ago today, the Blue Lacy dog was made the official State Dog of Texas, when governor Rick Perry signed Texas House Concurrent Resolution no. 108. The resolution points out that the Blue Lacy is a Texas original, being the only dog breed to have originated in the Lone Star State. Blue Lacys are named for brothers George, Ewin, Frank, and Harry Lacy, who moved to Texas from Kentucky in 1858 and settled in the area of Burnet County. I have known a couple of Blue Lacys and they are awesome dogs. A rancher friend of mine owns one and also a Border Collie and says that the Blue Lacy is just as energetic and just as intelligent as the Border Collie, but also more independent. "Being a Texan, independence just comes natural," he says.
