The Bollinger County Archives is closed when road conditions are bad. As I live in the Leopold School District and Jan lives in the Zalma School District, if they or Woodland are closed due to road conditions the Archives may also be closed. Please call to find out. Thanks.

What kind of items does the archives have - well, we have a lot!! We have copies of some of the obituaries fro the Banner Press from 1889-2005. Below is an example:

Lefonce Barks
March 9, 1890, Lefonce Barks, at his home in Lutesville, Missouri departed this life. He was born November the 2nd,1842. On the first day of October 1868, he was united in marriage to Miss Virginia O'Sueald. They came from Arkansas to Bollinger County, Missouri, in 1876 and located in the town of Lutesville, on the 4th day of October 1877, where he died, leaving the wife of you youth, five children and two sisters to mourn his departure. Brother Barks was a member of the orders of A.F. & A.M.O.U& I.O.O.F. by whom he was buried according to their ritual ceremonies. The saddest of all duties to perform is our duty to the dead.
