Update: The repair is finished without having to disrupt the power.

The Electric Crew is currently dealing with a pole and line issue for the main feed line into town. In order to repair the issue, power may need to be shut down to the City. It is unknown at this time when and/or if that will be and the length of time for the repair to be complete.

RESIDENTIAL NOTIFICATION
Street Closure for the 14th Annual Wine & Art Stroll

Main Street USA, from California Avenue to Gracia Street, will be closed to thru-traffic on Saturday, August 22nd, from 2:00 – 9:00 pm for the 14th annual Wine and Art Stroll as indicated in red on the map. The event will begin at 4:00 pm and end at 8:00 pm.

During this time, the alleyway, between Gracia Street and Howell Avenue will become two-way (shown in green) to facilitate access to the OK Tavern and additional parking. This one-lane alley is normally a one-way system. Please exercise extreme care when accessing this alley and do not park along the alley right of ways.

Residents and visitors are also urged to exercise extreme caution in the surrounding areas as there will be a noticeable increase in pedestrian and vehicular traffic on the side-streets.

Residents are also asked to refrain from parking in the designated street closure areas during the closure period.

Last Friday, our City crews came together for a cleanup day at the former St. Francis Hospital. We removed overgrowth, cleared brush and began giving the property some much-needed attention.

I asked our department heads if they and their crews would commit one day each month to helping clean up and better maintain the property. Every one of them was immediately on board.

What an amazing group of people who truly care about their city!

I have worked with some great people throughout my life—some of the very best, in my opinion—but I have never seen so many good people gathered in one place. Their willingness to step outside their normal responsibilities and work together for Marceline says everything about their character.

We understand that determining the future of this property will be a long and difficult process. This effort is not intended to settle that larger question. It is simply about doing what we can today to care for the property while the community considers what comes next.

We will continue moving forward one day and one cleanup at a time.

I love Marceline and the people who call it home. I could not be prouder of our City team!
