This past Tuesday for our weekly drill, 16 Marcellus firefighters trained in stabilization and extrication scenarios with an overturned vehicle.

Our members used Res-Q-Jacks and a winch to stabilize and cutters, spreaders, reciprocating saws and glass cutters to remove doors and windshield from the vehicle, to extricate a simulated “victim.”

Possible Residential Fire - Marcellus Fire District

At 21:21, Marcellus and mutual aid from Fairmount, Howlett Hill, Skaneateles, Mottville, Navarino and Camillus were dispatched to a possible residential fire on NE Townline Road. Information from dispatch indicated an alarm sounding with smoke in the house.

Marcellus Engine 1 (LT Haney), Ladder 33 (FF C**n), Cars 1,2 & 3 (Chief Rothery, Asst. Chiefs Mayers & McNally) and Fire Police responded with 18 members, along with mutual aid.

Marcellus Car 3 arrived first and reported a light smoke condition in the residence. Upon further investigation, it was determined to be smoke from cooking and the incident was reduced to Marcellus units only. E-1 and L-33’s crews ventilated the structure and no extension was found.
