We have two amazing astronomy programs today at Marcellus Free Library! Join Barefoot Bob at 1:00PM for a Partial Solar Eclipse and use specially-filtered solar telescopes to view the moon taking a “bite” out of the sun. Then come back to the library at 8:00PM tonight to watch the Perseid Meteor Shower, one of the year’s finest! You will also be able to see the Milky Way! Please join us in congratulating Miss Ilah on her promotion to Youth Services Librarian! 🎊

Ilah earned her bachelor’s degree in History and Adolescent Education from St. Bonaventure University and recently completed her master’s degree in Library and Information Science at Syracuse University this past June. 🎓

Before stepping into her new role, Ilah served as a Library Trainee at Marcellus Free Library, where she assisted patrons, supported library programs, led Storytimes, and gained valuable experience in the many ways libraries bring people together. ❤️

Ilah is passionate about creating a welcoming environment for all and connecting children, teens, and their families with the resources, programs, and services that make the library such a special place. We are excited to see her continue to inspire a love of reading and lifelong learning in our community.

Yesterday we wrapped up our Unearth Your Hobby Series for Tweens & Teens! This summer our tween & teen patrons were able to try out new hobbies such as painting, building with LEGOs, terrarium making, diamond art, and drawing! So much fun this July📚🩷🎨🦖

All six of our eggs hatched overnight! 🐥🎉

Our baby chicks are all doing well, though they’re still very sleepy. They’ll remain in the incubator for the first 24 hours after the initial hatch, so we’ll be moving them to their brooder after the library closes today.

We’ll do our best to livestream the big move so you can watch the chicks settle into their new home. Stay tuned! 💛
