🚧 Our Green Gateway Park is taking shape! 🌳

Small Town Earthworks and Heidelberg Materials were on site pouring the concrete pad for the new pavilion this week, with assistance from the Village of Marcellus DPW.

This project is funded by Onondaga County and County Executive Ryan McMahon and has a pretty special story behind it.

The pavilion idea started as an independent study project by a MCSD Student. That program later grew into Professional Pathways, thanks in part to teacher Tyler Cooper, who helped get the program up and running.

What started as a student idea is now becoming a real community project!

We are grateful to everyone helping bring this vision to life, including but not limited to Small Town Earthworks, Heidelberg Materials, TDK Engineering, the Village DPW, the Town Highway Dept, Marcellus CSD, Onondaga County and County Executive Ryan McMahon.

🚲 E-Bike Safety Reminder from the Marcellus Police Department

As e-bikes continue to grow in popularity, the Marcellus Police Department would like to remind all residents to review the New York State e-bike laws and regulations.

E-bikes are a fun and convenient way to travel, but they also come with important safety responsibilities for riders and parents alike.

Some important reminders include:
• Riders must be at least 16 years old to operate an e-bike or e-scooter.
• E-bikes must follow the same traffic laws as other vehicles and may not be operated on sidewalks unless permitted by local law.
• Helmet use is required for riders ages 16 and 17 and is strongly encouraged for all riders.
• Parents and guardians play an important role in ensuring young riders understand the law and operate e-bikes safely and responsibly.

Allowing children to ride without proper supervision, training, or compliance with applicable laws can create unnecessary risks for the rider, motorists, pedestrians, and other members of our community.

Our goal is not only enforcement but also education and prevention. By working together, we can help reduce accidents, improve safety, and ensure that e-bikes remain a safe and enjoyable transportation option for everyone in the Village of Marcellus.

The NY Forward Open Call for Projects is live!

Forms are available at https://www.villageofmarcellusny.gov/ny-forward.html

The Local Planning Committee (LPC) is soliciting transformative, impactful project ideas that will enhance the downtown area and improve quality of life.

Interested property and business owners within the NY Forward study area boundary must complete a form and submit it no later than September 4 for consideration.

Have questions? The consultant team will host a webinar on August 11 and in-person office hours on August 20.

🏃‍♀️ A heads up for Village residents and visitors! 🏃‍♂️

The David's Refuge Run is taking place this weekend! Please note that the following streets will be closed intermittently from 7:45 AM to 9:30 AM for the race:

🚧 South Street
🚧 Main Street
🚧 North Street

Thank you in advance for your patience as we support this wonderful community event.

After the race, be sure to stop by the Marcellus Community Market on Main and North Streets to shop local vendors, enjoy delicious food, and spend some time downtown. We hope to see you there! 💚

💚 This Saturday, our village is running for a wonderful cause!

The David’s Refuge Run for Refuge 5K comes to Marcellus Park on Saturday, July 25th. David’s Refuge supports caregivers of children with special needs or life-threatening medical conditions across New York State, and this is our chance to show up for them.

🏃 5K starts at 8:00 AM
🎈 Fun Run at 9:30 AM
📍 Marcellus Park — 2443 Platt Rd

Lace up and join us, or come cheer from the sidelines. Every runner and every walker makes a difference for families who could really use the support.

🛍️ Stick around after the race! Several of our Marcellus Community Market vendors will be out cheering on the runners and walkers, and they’ll have their goods for sale once the race wraps up. It’s the perfect way to keep the morning going.
