Safe roads save lives.

Every decision behind the wheel matters. Whether you’re driving across town or just around the block, taking a few extra seconds to make safe choices can make all the difference.

• Buckle up every trip, every time.
• Obey posted speed limits.
• Put your phone down while driving.
• Never drive impaired.
• Watch for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorcyclists.

Traffic safety is a shared responsibility. Together, we can help prevent crashes and ensure everyone gets home safely.

Arrive Alive. Every Trip. Every Time.

Duck, Duck… Saved!

Our Firefighter/Medics and Police Officers respond to hundreds of calls every week, including motor vehicle crashes, cardiac emergencies, routine medical calls, suspicious incidents, and other calls for service.

Every so often, a call reminds us just how special our community is, not only for people, but for the animals and wildlife that call Marco Island home.

Recently, firefighters from Marco Island Fire Rescue and officers from the Marco Island Police Department responded after a group of ducklings found themselves stuck inside a storm drain. Thankfully, crews were able to safely remove them and reunite them with mama duck.

The ducks are seen here waddling off into the sunset.

Human or animal, our Police Officers, Firefighters, EMTs, and Paramedics are proud to serve our community every day.

We are honored to welcome back Little Pink Houses of Hope to Marco Island this week.

Yesterday, members of the Marco Island Police Department and Marco Island Fire Rescue stopped by the beach to visit with families participating in this year’s retreat. First responders spent time with the families, met the children, and handed out goodie bags as a small welcome to our island community.

Little Pink Houses of Hope provides retreat experiences for breast cancer patients and their families, creating opportunities to relax, reconnect, and make lasting memories together.

A special thank you to Code Enforcement Officer P. Youngkin for his work in helping coordinate and set up the event on the beach.

We are proud to support this incredible program and wish all of the families a wonderful stay on Marco Island.

Marco, it’s a beautiful evening along the beach!

As a reminder, sea turtle nesting season began on May 1 and continues through October 31. Check out this sea turtle nest near Sea Winds Condominium.

Whether you’re enjoying the beaches this evening or any time throughout the season, please remember:
• Keep lights off or use turtle-friendly lighting after dark
• Fill in holes and knock down sandcastles before leaving the beach
• Remove beach chairs, tents, and other equipment at the end of the day
• Give nesting sea turtles and marked nests plenty of space

For homeowners and visitors along the beach, remember to turn off or shield beachfront lights after 9 p.m. Artificial lighting can disorient nesting sea turtles and hatchlings as they make their way to the Gulf.

By doing our part, we can help protect these incredible animals and give hatchlings the best chance of making it safely to the water.

Thank you for helping keep Marco Island’s beaches beautiful and sea turtle friendly. Enjoy the evening and the natural beauty that makes our island so special.
