Rep. Al Green, the Democrat who repeatedly pushed to impeach President Trump, was defeated in a heated primary race against fellow Texas Rep. Christian Menefee.

After talking about itfor more than a year without providing much detail, Gov. Ron DeSantis finally rolled out his plan for cutting property taxes – a ballot proposal to raise Florida’s $50,000 homestead exemptions to $250,000.
DeSantis unveiled the idea May 27 in Tampa. He said lawmakers will be called back into special session June 1 to begin work on the initiative.

No less than 60% in each of the House and Senate would be needed to approve putting a proposed constitutional amendment on the November ballot.

“This is the one thing that we can do that’s going to make a really big difference in the lives of people in the state of Florida,” DeSantis said.

If the measure is approved by at least 60% of Florida voters in November, the Legislature would work on a schedule to eventually slide that $250,000 exemption up to $500,000, which the governor said would erase most property taxes on 92% of primary homes.

Cities and counties, which get much of their revenue from local property assessments, have fought the push for tax cuts, warning it will lead to drastic cuts in services, from law enforcement to garbage pickup.

In announcing the plan, DeSantis provided few details. But he did propose a state trust fund aimed more at helping small and rural governments make up any dollar losses that hurt education and services.

Kerry Sheron, a 69 -year-old Army vet was brutally beaten outside his famous Trump- themed California home. The attack took place in broad daylight. After a week in intensive care, Sheron died from his injuries. He loved our country, loved our American flag and was proud of our president. For this he was brutally beaten and died.

A 32-year-old Navy veteran suffering from PTSD, Thomas Caleb Butler, is charged with first-degree murder.

The violence must stop.
