💧 Water Rate Reminder

The new water rates take effect on the July 1st bill, which reflects water used May 15 – June 15.
This means the water being used now will appear on the July bill at the new rate.

This rate adjustment is part of the financing plan for the upcoming well and water plant project.

A notice will also be included with the June 1st bill.

This includes curb lines, ditches, alleys, and areas around objects.
Spraying does not replace mowing.

The Marcus Action Club would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to WesTel Systems for their incredibly generous $10,000 donation toward our community pickleball court project!

This exciting project is a collaboration between the City of Marcus, Westel, and the Marcus Action Club, and we’re so grateful for the support helping bring it to life.

We’re excited to share that the project is expected to break ground sometime this summer—stay tuned for updates as we get closer!

The City Council will hold a public hearing on April 13th at 5:00 pm to review the Proposed Property Tax Levy for FY27.

Once the Levy is approved, it sets the maximum amount of property tax dollars the Council can include in the FY27 budget. The final budget cannot exceed this amoutn.

Residents are welcome to attend, ask questions, and learn more about how the lvey affects the upcoming budget.

Marcus Police Department Reminds Community of Electric Scooter and E-Bike Safety for Children

The Marcus Police Department has recently received several complaints regarding groups of young children operating electric scooters and electric bicycles in an unsafe manner throughout the community.

Reports indicate that many riders have been traveling at high speeds, failing to stop at stop signs, swerving in the roadway, operating after dark without proper lighting, and in some cases nearly causing traffic collisions. These behaviors create significant safety risks not only for the children involved, but also for motorists and other pedestrians.

The Marcus Police Department wants the children in our community to enjoy being outside and participating in activities such as riding bikes and scooters. However, the safety of our children and everyone in the community must remain the top priority.

Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to speak with their children about safe riding practices and to review local laws regarding the operation of electric scooters and electric bicycles. Ensuring that these devices are used responsibly, including obeying traffic signs, using proper lighting after dark, and riding in a predictable and safe manner, can help prevent serious accidents or injuries.

The Marcus Police Department appreciates the cooperation of parents and community members in helping keep our children safe. By working together, we can ensure that riders continue to enjoy these activities while reducing the risk of a tragic outcome.
