The Maynard Fire Department has proudly served the residents of the Maynard Fire District in Marcy, NY since 1953.

From it's beginnings to present, the Maynard Fire Department always strives to give it's Fire District the best protection possible.

Last night, members of the Maynard Fire Department spent the evening training on hose advancement and other essential fireground skills. Crews worked on advancing hose lines, establishing a water supply from hydrants, operating pumps, and maneuvering around obstacles while practicing a variety of fireground scenarios.

Training nights like these help our members build confidence, strengthen teamwork, and continue developing the skills needed on emergency scenes. The more we train together, the better prepared we are to serve our community.

This evening, we had the honor of participating in the Deerfield Field Days Firemen’s Parade, a cherished tradition we always look forward to.

A huge thank you to The Camden Continentals, Fife and Drum Corps. for once again joining us and providing the powerful music and spirit that makes this parade so special.

We are also incredibly proud to share that Maynard Fire Department took home multiple awards this evening! We were awarded 1st Place Best Appearing Chief and 3rd Place Best Appearing Fire Company with Music. These recognitions are a true testament to the pride and dedication our members put into representing our department and community.

To all who lined the streets, waved, clapped, and showed your support, thank you. Your smiles and cheers remind us why we do what we do. It’s moments like these that truly bring our community together, and we’re so grateful to be part of it.

Please join the Maynard Fire Department in congratulating our own FF Jean Orozco on being awarded the Chief Nicholas Morosco Memorial Scholarship!

We are incredibly proud of Jean and all of his hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving others. Jean is a member of our Restricted Access Member (RAM) Program, which gives youth ages 16–18 the opportunity to explore a future in firefighting and emergency services through training, department events, and hands-on experience alongside senior members. Jean’s achievement is a true reflection of the dedication and potential of the young members in our program.

Jean plans to continue working as an EMT at Kunkel Ambulance and then pursue paramedicine in college with the goal of becoming a paramedic and New York State Trooper. We are excited to see all that his future holds!

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Yorkville Fire Department and the Morosco family for making this scholarship possible and for investing in the future of young members in emergency services.

Congratulations to our 2026 Maynard Fire Department Scholarship Recipients!

Every year, it is truly special for us to be able to support members of our community as they continue their education and work toward their dreams. This year, we are so proud to recognize three incredible scholarship recipients who have worked extremely hard to get to where they are today.

Please join us in congratulating:

Abigail Gagnon, a graduating senior from Whitesboro High School, who will be attending SUNY Oswego to major in Zoology. Abigail has an exciting journey ahead of her, and we know she is going to do amazing things.

Cassie Turczyn, a returning adult learner, who will be attending Syracuse University College of Law. Going back to school and pursuing a law degree takes an incredible amount of dedication and determination, and we are so proud of all Cassie has accomplished.

Madeline Benton, a returning adult learner, who will be attending SUNY Polytechnic Institute to pursue her goal of becoming a Nurse Practitioner. Madeline’s commitment to helping others and continuing her education is inspiring, and we cannot wait to see all she accomplishes.

Abigail, Cassie, and Madeline, we are beyond proud of each of you. Your hard work, ambition, and perseverance have brought you to this exciting chapter, and there is no doubt you all have such bright futures ahead. We are honored to support you and cannot wait to see where your journeys take you. Congratulations again on this well-deserved achievement.

Yesterday, members of the Maynard Fire Department proudly showed our support for the Ride for Missing Children - Mohawk Valley as riders passed through Maynard Drive. This meaningful event helps raise awareness for missing and exploited children while reminding families and communities that hope is never lost.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Yorkville Fire Department for providing their aerial apparatus, allowing the American flag to be displayed proudly above the route as riders passed beneath. We also thank the Floyd Volunteer Fire Department for standing alongside us in support of this important cause. A special thank you goes to the New York State Police, Marcy Troop D for assisting with traffic coordination and helping ensure the safety of participants traveling through our district.

To all of the riders, thank you for your dedication to raising awareness and advocating for the safety of children. Your compassion, commitment, and determination to support such an important mission are truly inspiring, and we were honored to play a small role in supporting your journey.

Together, we continue working toward a safer future for our children, one child at a time.

The Maynard Fire Department would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Assistant Chief Randal B. Caldwell on his retirement and recognize his extraordinary decades of dedicated public service to our community.

Throughout his distinguished legal and judicial career, Judge Caldwell faithfully served the residents of Oneida County in numerous roles, including Oneida County Family Court Judge, Acting Surrogate Court Judge, Acting Supreme Court Judge, and Administrative Supervising Family Court Judge for the 5th Judicial District. His leadership, integrity, and commitment to public service have left a lasting impact on countless lives.

Beyond the courtroom, Assistant Chief Caldwell has proudly served the Maynard Volunteer Fire Department for 43 years and counting as an Assistant Chief and EMT. His dedication, leadership, and compassion have made an immeasurable impact on our department and community.

While today marks the close of an incredible judicial career, we are proud to continue serving alongside him here at Maynard. Please join us in congratulating Assistant Chief Randal B. Caldwell on his well-earned retirement and thanking him for his decades of service, leadership, and continued dedication to the Maynard Fire Department and the community we proudly serve.

The Maynard Fire Department would like to congratulate Firefighter/EMT Alexandra Osilovskiy as she graduates from the New York State Police Academy today.

Trooper Osilovskiy will begin her field training in Troop D and joins a large group of current and past members of the Maynard Fire Department that have joined the New York State Police.

Today, members of the Maynard Fire Department were proud to participate in both the Whitesboro Memorial Day Parade and the New Hartford Memorial Day Parade as we joined our neighboring communities in honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Memorial Day is a time to reflect on the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who gave their lives in service to our nation. It was an honor to march in remembrance of these heroes and pay tribute to the sacrifices that helped protect the freedoms we enjoy each day.

Today, we remember the fallen, honor their legacy, and express our deepest gratitude for their service and sacrifice. Their memory will forever remain in our hearts and will never be forgotten.

Today, the members of the Maynard Fire Department join communities across our nation in honoring and remembering the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

Memorial Day is more than a holiday, it is a day of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance for those who gave their lives defending the freedoms we are privileged to enjoy each day. Their courage, sacrifice, and devotion to something greater than themselves will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with loved ones today, let us also pause to remember the true meaning of this day and honor the heroes who gave everything for our nation.
