TRAVEL ADVISORY: LELAND AVENUE BRIDGE OVER I-90 RAMP IN ONEIDA COUNTY TO CLOSE MONDAY, JUNE 1 FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS FOR BRIDGE WORK
Signed Detour in Place for Motorists to Use During Construction
The New York State Thruway Authority today announced the Leland Avenue Bridge, located just west of exit 31 (Utica - I-790 - NY Routes 8 & 12) over the I-90 ramp in Utica will temporarily close to traffic to allow the Thruway Authority to safely perform bridge joint replacements on the bridge. Approximately 5,200 motorists travel on the bridge daily.
The bridge is scheduled to temporarily close on Monday, June 1 for approximately two weeks. All work is weather dependent and subject to change. Variable Message Signs (VMS) are lit in the area to alert drivers of the temporary bridge closure.
During the closure, motorists seeking to access Leland Avenue should use the 1.5-mile signed detour which utilizes Auert Avenue, N. Genesee St. and Wurz Avenue.
Traffic on the NYS Thruway mainline (I-90) and interchange 31 will not be impacted by the closure.
Motorists can view real-time traffic conditions on the Thruway Authority’s website and free mobile app, which is available for iPhone and Android devices. The app also provides motorists direct access to real-time traffic and navigation assistance while on the go. Motorists also can register for TRANSalert emails, which provide the latest conditions along the Thruway.
