The next monthly meeting of the Wicomico County Board of Education is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2026, in the Board of Education Auditorium at 101 Long Ave., Salisbury.

For this Board meeting, the Board will convene at 6:30 p.m. and immediately vote to go into closed session. The open portion of the meeting will begin at about 7 p.m. The agenda for this meeting is available at https://wicomico-schools.community.highbond.com/Portal/

To register for public comments, please visit the pre-registration page (https://board_public_comments.wicomicoschools.org/), which is open from Sept. 1 - 7. Anyone unable to pre-register online may visit the school system office at 2424 Northgate Drive during business hours to fill out a paper copy of the pre-registration form.

Today we officially celebrated the start of an exciting journey for some first-year & new to Northwestern teachers with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony! We are thrilled to welcome these outstanding educators to the Northwestern family and can't wait to see the positive impact they will have on our students and school community.

Thank you to Asbury & Mt. Vernon - Sharptown, MD for the delicious breakfast, extra goodies, and thoughtful well wishes shared with our staff on Friday. Your kindness reminded us how blessed we are to be supported by such a caring community. Thank you for nourishing us, lifting our spirits, and helping us begin the year feeling appreciated and inspired. We are grateful for your partnership and prayers as we look forward to a wonderful year ahead serving our students and families!

We're excited to see our students for the start of the 2026-2027 school year this week! Tuesday, Sept. 1 is the first day for students in grades 1-6 and 9 (Grade 6 only at Mardela, all grades attend at Pittsville). Then on Wednesday, Sept. 2, all students in grades 1-12 will be in school. Our Prekindergarten and Kindergarten students report as assigned by the school during the first week.

Letter days for elementary students (including those at Pittsville Elementary & Middle) are posted each week during the school year. The schedule of letter days is on school web pages in Live Feed, and on the school system's website, in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole.

It was wonderful to see so many Northwestern families at our Back-to-School Fair & Open House today! The energy, excitement, and smiles throughout the evening reminded us what a special community we have. Thank you to everyone who came out to connect with teachers, staff, and fellow families as we prepare for the year ahead.💚💛
