Marengo Area Residents!

On Tuesday, June 23rd the Park District is hosting an I-PASS On Demand Event thanks to Sen. Dave Syverson and Rep. Joe Sosnowski. This event gives you the opportunity to return your old transponders, receive a new I-PASS Sticker Tag, and get assistance managing your I-PASS account. You also will be able to get assistance with paying invoices, answer account questions, and explain the benefits of the new sticker tags.

When: Tuesday, June 23 | 2:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M.
Where: Marengo Park District
825 Indian Oaks Trail
Marengo, IL 60152

Event Details:
📍Free I-PASS Sticker Tags available for passenger vehicles

💧𝐀 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐨: 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤!💧🏗️✨

On June 15, the City of Marengo officially ushered in a proud new era for our community utilities. Local leaders, project partners, and regional representatives gathered for a celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony and the historic "First Pour" at our new Water Filtration Plant!

Operating under the banner "Our Water at Work: Marengo's Next Chapter," this state-of-the-art, $7.55 million infrastructure investment is officially online.

What this means for our city:
🚰 Water Quality: The facility utilizes advanced, modern treatment technology to filter out iron, manganese, and radium, securing high-quality, safe drinking water across our municipal utility network for generations to come.

📈 Capacity for Growth: Infrastructure is the foundation of development. When paired with our strategic water and sewer extension down Rt. 23 to I-90, this upgrade unlocks the critical utility capacity needed to drive Marengo’s future economic and residential expansion.

🤝 A Team Effort: This major milestone was made possible entirely through vital grant funding from the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO).

🔄 A transformation of this scale takes an incredible village. We want to extend our highest appreciation to the Region 1 Planning Council McHenry County Government, and the McHenry County EDC for their unwavering advocacy and support in securing this funding.

🏛️ We also extend a special thank you to our local and visiting legislative leaders whose support made this day possible. Thank you to our attending Aldermen— Amanda E. Damisch, Mike Miller, Steve Mortensen and Matt Keenum—as well as Congressman Bill Foster, Senator Dave Syverson, and Rep. Joe Sosnowski for their remarks during the event.

🛠️ Finally, our deepest gratitude goes out to the phenomenal crews at IHC Construction Companies LLC and McMahon Associates, who built and engineered this new facility.

Hey Marengo residents! We're in for some rough weather, and a threat for tornadoes. Please take precautions and stay safe.

There is a threat for strong (EF-2+) tornadoes across northern Illinois this afternoon between 4 and 8 PM. The highest threat will be in the dark red shaded area. This area has shifted farther south than previously forecast. Take tornado warnings seriously, and have multiple ways to get warning information today.

Cookies and gratitude!

Last night’s City Council meeting came with an unexpected and very thoughtful surprise.

A Marengo resident stopped in with some Sweet Jems cookies and a heartfelt message of thanks for our council members and staff.

Moments like this remind us how fortunate we are to serve a community that shows such kindness.
