Did you know... that today marks the end of our first six weeks of school? On Monday, students will begin a new afternoon Encore class. When checking PowerSchool, you will see this new course listed under the “G2”, with the first six-weeks class listed under “G1” (core academic classes and morning Encore classes are listed under “S1”). As always, PowerSchool is one of the ways students and families can stay in-the-know about what is happening in each class.
Congratulations to our school-wide Spelling Bee champion, 8th grader Tyler Spence! His championship word was “sauntered.” Also, congrats to our second place finisher, 8th grader Charles Blanton, and to our third place finisher, 8th grader Oliver Linkous. All three of these students will compete next week in the virtual Morrow County spelling bee. Rounding out our top seven were: Amber Rudy (6th grade), Aubree Leiter (6th grade), Evelynne Porter (7th grade), and Blake Rickabaugh (6th grade).
The HMS gym will be closed for the next week, beginning today. The laminate finish on the gym floor is peeling, so the floor company will be repairing and re-finishing. Due to the closure, students will not be able to wait in the gym before school and will instead report immediately to their lockers/1st period classes. Breakfast in the cafeteria will not be impacted, so students that are eating school breakfast will report as usual.
Picture retakes are Thursday (Oct 22). Marco Photo Services does not offer a pre-pay gallery for retakes as it would prevent families from viewing and reordering photos from the first day online. So, on retake day, students will come to the camera on retake day. They will be photographed, and Marco will print a non-buyer proof unit so families can view and order online.
