On July 17, 2024 Blackwell School National Historic Site was officially established as part of the National Park Service.

Blackwell School is a tangible reminder of a time when the practice of ‘separate but equal’ dominated education and social systems during the first half of the 20th century and is a representation of the persistence of Mexican and Mexican American history.

Blackwell School joins other national park sites in protecting, preserving and interpreting a deeper understanding of our shared past.

We hope you join us in exploring the past, present, and future of Blackwell School.
