We often take calls regarding both domestic and wild animals who are injured or in distress. The same resources we call upon for assistance are available to the public and we wanted to share the information along with some general tips.

If you do encounter an animal in distress, it is important to keep your distance and summon appropriate assistance. For pets, keeping contact information on a collar or having your pet "chipped" are the best ways to ensure we can get them safe and where they belong.

Today MCPD was proud to graduate Margate's 8th grade students from the LEAD (Law Enforcement Against Drugs) program. The students were treated to some Bocca pizza and a party to celebrate.

These 8th grade students had instruction from specially trained officers on bullying, violence prevention, and effective substance abuse prevention.

The LEAD curriculum is taught to students in the 5th and 8th grades and uses validated methods to help students make smart and healthy choices to benefit them today and in the future.

Congratulations!

The Margate City Police Department thanks everybody who came out for our Elder Abuse and Fraud Prevention program today at the Margate JCC.

Our event featured speakers from the FBI, Atlantic County Office on Aging, the Atlantic County Prosecutors Office, and K-9 Zara and Officer April Kelso from the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office who all spoke on the resources and tactics available to seniors to help prevent being a victim of the types of fraud that typically preys on our older population.

The most important takeaway from the event was to report suspected fraud as quickly as possible! Any suspicious activity should be immediately reported to your local police department so they can begin the process to safeguard citizens from the common ways these sophisticated fraudsters destroy lives.

If you are in Margate and fear that a scammer may be attempting to contact you, or may have gotten your information, please call us ASAP at 609-822-1151!
