Marianna Borough has implemented a 21-day suspension of open burning due to dry conditions and an increase in field fire incidents, effective immediately. This suspension aims to ensure the safety of residents. Open burning includes the ignition of combustible materials outdoors, such as garbage, twigs, leaves, grass, litter, paper, and debris in burn barrels or on the ground. However, the use of propane/gas stoves, charcoal grills is permitted. Existing burn permits are restricted during this period. The monthly council meeting for Marianna borough has been rescheduled for Thursday, September 19th. We would like our emergency management coordinator to attend in person. Additionally, the townhall meeting is not until September 16th, allowing us to provide any new information to our fellow residents at the monthly meeting.

We are writing to inform you of the upcoming closure of our post office. In the past, the idea of installing boxes at the end of each street was proposed as an alternative, but it was met with resistance from most residents. We would like to know your thoughts on which option you prefer: a new post office or boxes at the end of every street.

Please be advised that tomorrow, Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday, water service will be temporarily interrupted on lower fourth Street and Oklahoma Street as we undertake a $800,000 enhancement of our water distribution system. The project will continue for approximately one to one and a half years. The initial phase involves the replacement of twenty shut-off valves and five fire hydrants, followed by the second phase which includes replacing waterlines on third Street, lower fourth Street, and Church Street, and subsequently repaving these roads.
