Last week, multiple public safety agencies came together at Marianna K-8 for a full-scale Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) training exercise. This collaborative event provided first responders with the opportunity to strengthen communication, coordination, and response capabilities during a large-scale emergency.

Participating agencies included Marianna Fire Rescue, Jackson County Fire Rescue (JCFR), Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), FDLE, AirHeart, the American Red Cross, and several other local partners. By working together in a realistic training environment, responders were able to practice unified command, patient triage, treatment, transport, and interagency cooperation.

Training like this ensures our first responders are prepared to protect and serve our community when every second counts.

🎆 FIREWORKS REMINDER — KNOW THE LAW BEFORE YOU LIGHT 🎆

As we head into the 4th of July weekend, here's what you need to know:

✅ Fireworks are ONLY legal on July 4th
❌ NOT on the 3rd — NOT on the 5th — ONLY the 4th
❌ It is ILLEGAL to shoot fireworks AT people or vehicles
❌ It is ILLEGAL to shoot fireworks FROM a vehicle

⚠️ Violations can result in ARREST and SEIZURE of fireworks.

In past years, we've seen reckless fireworks activity in our community and in most cases, juveniles were involved.

👪 PARENTS: Please know where your kids are and what they're doing this holiday weekend. A fireworks arrest can mean a criminal record that follows your child for LIFE.

Firefighters respond to thousands of fires every July. Help give them a break by choosing community displays or following the four B's of safety if celebrating at home:
💧 Be Prepared: Keep a hose handy.
👨‍👩‍👧 Be Safe: Keep spectators at a safe distance.
🚫 Be Responsible: Never relight a dud; wait 20 minutes and soak it in water.
👀 Be Aware: Check local restrictions before lighting.
