Hereâs a look at highlights of the agenda for Tuesdayâs Board of Commissioners meeting:
Recognitions & Community
Weâll join the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia in honoring Cobb County Delegation Chair State Rep. David Wilkerson for his legislative service.
Budget Season Begins
The first public hearings for the millage rate and county budget will be held. We encourage residents to attend and share their input.
Infrastructure
Funding is proposed for water system work orders addressing pipe oxidation and stormwater conveyance.
Grants & Sponsorships
The county is set to accept several grants, including funding for Juvenile Justice programs, the Solicitor Generalâs Office, Meals on Wheels support, an ASPCA grant for Animal Services, and multiple sponsorships for the Cobb 250 Celebration.
Neighborhood Matters to Approve
⢠A citizen-driven no-parking zone on one side of Atlanta Country Club Drive
⢠Annexations near Old 41 Hwy/Robin Drive (Kennesaw) and Owenby Road/Canton Road (Marietta)
Public Safety
A Mutual Aid agreement between Marietta Police and Cobb Police is to be approved, plus program management services for the new E-911 Communications Center.
Health & Innovation
We will vote on pre-construction services for the South Cobb Health Facility, and a grant application to fund a CT scanner for the Medical Examinerâs Office, improving death determinations and potentially generating revenue.
Transportation
Commissioners plan to accept $6.6M in Low/No Emissions Grant funds plus $1.1M in Cumberland CID matching funds for the Cumberland Autonomous Vehicle Circulator Pilot, and approve a contract for the Vinings/Cumberland Area Traffic Study supporting the Top End I-285 Project.
Parks
New and renovated restrooms at Noonday Creek Par and improvements to the Cobblestone golf cart path will be considered
Small Business Support
In partnership with the Development Authority we will provide a $4,000 entrepreneurship and innovation grant for THZ ATL to purchase safety and support technology for their youth enrichment facility.
County Staffing
We will also vote on funding an executive search firm for critical county positions
Senior services
Our contract with the Atlanta Regional Commission is to be renewed bringing in $2.3M for aging services.
We will also have an appeal hearing on a License Review Board denial for a Marietta health spa application,
