Happy National WIC Enrollment Week (Oct. 5-9). It’s the perfect time to discover what WIC can offer your family!

WIC is more than groceries. It's a whole support system for you and your little ones, from healthy foods and nutrition tips to breastfeeding help and connections to other services your family might need.

WIC has supported families for more than 50 years and currently serves millions of people! If you're pregnant, recently pregnant, breastfeeding, or caring for a child under 5, you, too, could be eligible for WIC.

Washington Morgan Community Action is incredibly grateful to Gator's Easy Wind Pub , the Vet Fest Committee, local businesses, and every community member who helped make this year’s Vet Fest such a tremendous success!

Last night, Gator and the Vet Fest Committee presented WMCAP’s David Brightbill with a check for an amazing $10,935.50 — all raised during this year’s Vet Fest to help support local Veterans in crisis.

Vet Fest is held each August in front of Gator’s Pub on Second Street, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting WMCAP’s efforts to assist Veterans in need.

Even more incredible, over the past four years, Gator, the Vet Fest Committee, local businesses, and members of our community have raised more than $32,000 to support Veterans in our area.

The time, hard work, generosity, and dedication that go into making this event possible each year are truly remarkable. We are so thankful for the continued partnership and for a community that shows up year after year to take care of those who have served our country.

Thank you, Gator, the entire Vet Fest Committee, participating businesses, sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who supported this year’s event. We are honored to partner with you!

Tomorrow is the big day! 🎉

🎉 GREAT NEWS! BELPRE HEAD START IS OPENING! 🎉

We are thrilled to announce that we have officially received our child care license, and Belpre Head Start will open its doors TOMORROW, Tuesday, September 22! 🏫❤️

After months of hard work, preparation, and anticipation, we are finally ready to welcome our children and families into our beautiful new facility!

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this possible. We are so excited to begin this new chapter and create a wonderful place for our children to learn, grow, and thrive!

Our 2025–2026 Annual Report Is Here!

We are excited to share the Washington Morgan Community Action Head Start & Early Head Start 2025–2026 Annual Report!

Each year, this report gives our families, partners, and community a look at the work happening throughout our program—and, most importantly, the progress being made by the children and families we serve.

This year, there is a lot to celebrate! During 2025–2026:

⭐ 195 unique children were served across Head Start and Early Head Start.
⭐ Children showed growth in every developmental area measured, including significant gains in literacy and mathematics.
⭐ 100% of children had an ongoing source of medical care by the end of enrollment.
⭐ 54 Head Start children with IEPs and 14 Early Head Start children with IFSPs received the services to which they were entitled.
⭐ Our most recent federal monitoring review found our program compliant in all six areas reviewed, with no findings, Areas of Concern, Areas of Noncompliance, or deficiencies.

Behind every number is a child learning something new, a family working toward a goal, and staff and community partners working together to help children thrive.

We are excited to announce our new "Birth" Day Bags! These bags are given to new parents who stop by our office to obtain their newborn's birth certificate. The bags include diapers, wipes, nail clippers, books and informational materials to help new parents keep baby safe.
In August, we distributed 12 birthday bags to new parents!
If you have a new baby and need a birth certificate, stop by 304 Putnam Street and see us!
Birth certificates can be issued for anyone born within the State of Ohio. Certified Birth Certificates are $25 each and we accept cash, check, or credit card.
