On this National Day of Prayer, we hope you'll join us in this prayer written by one of BrightPoint for Children's partners, Global Hope:
Lord God,
On this National Day of Prayer, we come before You with hearts moved by the realities of the fallen world around us. We are a people in need of Your guidance, Your love, and Your mercy.
We pray for our leaders, Lord. May they know You well. May they lean on Your wisdom and guidance and lead us in ways of order and peace.
We pray for our peacekeepers, Lord. May those in our military and law enforcement offices know Your protection. Keep them safe as they enter into the chaos and confusion of conflict and violence. Give them wisdom and peace as they navigate those spaces.
We pray for our communities, Lord, to have godly leadership with hearts and minds open to see the people, to hear their stories, and to respond in compassion, justice, and mercy.
We pray for our church families, Lord. May Your children be united by Your spirit, guided by Your Word, teach their members Your ways of grace, love, mercy, wisdom, and goodness. May Your churches not only nurture those gathered in their walls, but also reach out with mercy and compassion to those in need of Your love in their communities and around the world.
We pray for our families, Lord, those who are raising children, making decisions for their future, shaping the way they learn to encounter conflict, and teaching them how to live in community one with another. May their parents, mentors, and teachers teach them to live in Your ways of goodness, mercy, and love.
We pray, Lord, for individuals who struggle with homelessness, hopelessness, or mental health. May they know they are not alone. May they be seen by those who know their value in Your eyes. May they encounter Love that shows them they are seen and cherished by a loving God. May that knowledge enable them to move forward with purpose and find a life of thriving.
Lord, we pour out our hearts to You this day and seek to live according to Your will. Move our hearts, minds, and bodies to be instruments of Your love and Your peace to those around us and around the world. We love You, Lord, and give thanks for all the ways You abide with us.
In the name of Christ, the Compassionate One, we pray. Amen.
Amen
