As I step down from command of the 78th Troop Command, I do so with deep gratitude—and profound respect for the citizen-Soldiers who represent the very best of our nation.

Over the past three years, I’ve watched Guardian Soldiers live in two worlds—serving their communities as professionals, parents, and neighbors…
while standing ready to answer the call for the state of Georgia and the nation at a moment’s notice.

That dual commitment demands more than most will ever fully understand.

Yet our Soldiers—and their families—carry it forward without fanfare and without hesitation.

This video is a tribute to that commitment—and a heartfelt thanks to the Guardian soldiers who carry the weight of living a life of service with grace, quiet resilience and unwavering commitment.

That is not a small thing.
That is everything.

This is Guardian 6 signing off.

Tone From The Top #11 is live!

In this installment we discuss "Planting trees you’ll never sit under."

Early in my career, I thought leadership was about professional achievement and advancement.

But over time, I started to realize that The true measure of leadership isn’t what you achieve—it’s what endures after you’re gone.

To lead selflessly, we must focus on three shifts:

• Become a Conduit for Growth: Stop seeing potential in others as a threat to your trajectory. See it as an opportunity to scale your impact.

• Delegate to Elevate: Use delegation to push people outside their comfort zones, while providing the safety net they need to stumble and grow.

• Mentor Without Expectations: Mentorship isn't a transaction; it's a transformation. Grow others with no expectation of receiving anything in return.
The leaders who leave a lasting mark invest in people who will one day replace them… and hopefully surpass them.

Support the Fight!

Service. Storytelling. Ambition.

When the call came for the Georgia National Guard to support the D.C. Safe and Beautiful mission, U.S. Army Sgt. Katlynn Pickle didn’t hesitate. While visiting family, she answered the call and, within three days, was on her way to the nation’s capital—for the very first time.

“I've been wanting to see the monuments and museums, and now the chance had been given to me,” she shared.

As a Public Affairs specialist, Sgt. Pickle plays a vital role in telling the mission’s story—capturing moments through photography, video, news, and social media. From logistics to community engagement, her work helps highlight the impact of those serving on the ground.

Beyond the uniform, she’s also pursuing her entrepreneurial goals—seeking investors for her own restaurant and planning to launch a YouTube channel to share her craft.

The Service members of Make DC Safe and Beautiful are trained, ready and fully capable of handling unique situations with confidence. Through training, our people are equipped to lead, adapt, and succeed.
