Our 1st graders were busy being Team Rain 🌧️ or Team Wind 💨 this week as they designed and built their very own weather tools!

Some students created rain gauges to measure precipitation, while others built anemometers and windsocks to observe and measure the wind.

Next week, they’ll go from engineers to meteorologists as we head outside to put their creations to the test and collect real weather data! 📊🌡️

We can’t wait to see how well their weather tools work!

Our Addison summer Beanstack readers had a fun morning shopping at Foundation’s Pop-Up Shop using their Gator Bucks they earned by logging their minutes. Keep reading and keep logging minutes Gators because we have more fun Beanstack surprises coming in October!

Our 2nd grade STEM students put their engineering skills to the test as they explored how changing the shape of a flat piece of paper can help it support more weight! Students folded, rolled, tested, and improved their designs to see just how strong they could make their paper.

🏆 A group from Mrs. Schmidt and Ms. Keith’s class created the strongest design of all—their paper supported an incredible 273 grams!

Our 4th graders are reaching for the moon this week in STEM!

This week, students began creating their own moon phase models to demonstrate how the phases of the moon follow a repeating pattern. They were challenged to think about how they could clearly show the phases in the correct order—and their creativity definitely came through!

We have some incredibly creative 4th graders, and I love seeing all the different ways they are bringing their learning to life! 🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘

What a great week of STEM for our 5th graders! 🐊💚

Students have been investigating erosion and exploring ways we can help slow it down or prevent it. This week, they put their ideas into action and began constructing their own erosion barriers!

Next week, they’ll finish building their designs and put them to the test with some “rain” to see just how well their barriers protect the land from erosion!

I can’t wait to see how their designs perform—and how they improve them after testing!

Our 3rd graders were Rock Detectives this week! 🔎🪨

They explored different characteristics and properties of rocks, made observations, and used what they discovered to classify the rocks into groups.

Our Gators did a great job thinking and working like scientists!

2nd–5th grade Gators brought their name tent designs to life this week! 🐊💡

After planning their designs last week, students got to work creating their name tents and adding the required interactive or movable piece. I loved seeing all the different ideas they came up with—our Gators were SO creative! 💚
