Last week Deputies attended the Love County Free Fair kids extravaganza at the Love County Fair Grounds.

This day is always a special one because we get to meet with kids from all over Love County and show them our police cruisers. It’s always a delight to see the joy and excitement on their faces when they press the siren button and turn the emergency lights on. It’s also a great time to teach the importance of when to call 911 and how to be safe.

Thank you to the event planners and volunteers who always make this event such a success.

Know before you travel. Traffic congestion will for sure be an issue.

I-35 closed at Texas state line Tuesday night

All lanes of southbound I-35 will be closed just south of the Texas state line from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday for a TxDOT I-35 expansion project. Traffic will be diverted to the I-35 frontage road. For questions about this project, contact TxDOT at 940-665-5312.

Drivers should expect delays and use caution in the work zone.

And just like that we are sold out of teams for our golf fundraiser.

Thank you to all 26 teams who registered to play and support your Sheriff’s Office.

The burn ban was renewed for another 14 days this morning at the County Commissioners meeting. Conditions continue to deteriorate and we ask people to be extremely cautious with any activity that might start a fire.

🚨 Copper Thief Arrested 🚨

This morning around 4:40 am Deputies were called to a ma*****na grow facility in Courtney for a suspected burglar.

Deputies requested a Marietta PD Officer to assist.
When they arrived to the location they could hear a grinding sound and could see the light from a flashlight in one of the buildings. When they made it to the building, the pictured suspect was in possession of burglar tools and was attempting to steal copper. Commands were given to the suspect and he ultimately drew a gun from his waistband. The Officer fired a shot at the suspect missing him and the suspect threw his gun to the ground and gave up.

He was arrested without further incident and booked into the Love County Justice Center.

The gun was found to be stolen out of Texas and the suspect was found to be a convicted felon.

Several charges will be presented to the district attorneys office.

Following a domestic dispute with shots fired call this evening, Deputies make felony arrest.

Charges will be presented to the District Attorneys Office for consideration. 👮‍♂️
