This morning, members of our department came together with the community to walk in remembrance of September 11, 2001.

The Kiwanis Club of Marietta (GA)‘s 9/11 Field of Flags at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park serves as a powerful reminder of the 2,977 lives lost that day, including the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice while answering the call to serve others.

At the end of the walk, the flags are then placed in the field , where you will find one flag for every life lost.

We remember their courage. We honor their sacrifice. And we will never forget.

Yesterday, Station 17 was presented with a gracious token of appreciation. Jenna de Bruyn created this amazing memorial plaque to honor their legacy of service to her mother, Charlene Rae Langwald. In the final years of Charlene's beautiful life, the crews at Station 17 were a constant guardian, providing emergency medical help with compassion and understanding. This fire station was the beacon of reassurance Jenna and her family needed in the most difficult moments. Jenna hopes the plaque will remind the firefighters of their immeasurable impact on the community.

Lt. Arnold is one of the firefighters that helped Charlene in her time of need. He represents his crew from 2022 that served Jenna's family in those crucial years.

A huge thanks to Chick-fil-a at Brookstone for providing meals to celebrate the occasion!

Happy National Dog Day!

Today, we’re giving a special shoutout to our four-legged team member, Vinny!

Vinny is our K9 who works alongside our Fire Investigations Unit, using his specially trained nose to help investigators detect accelerants and determine the cause of fires.

Fire safety? Definitely worth adding to the list.

As college students settle in for the semester, remember the basics: avoid overloading outlets, charge devices on hard surfaces, keep exits clear, and know at least two ways out.

And when it’s time to call it a night, close before you doze. A closed door can help slow the spread of smoke, heat, and fire and give you valuable time to escape.

Study hard. Have fun. Stay safe!

Last week, residents with the Emergency Medicine program at Kennestone Hospital joined Cobb Fire at our Training Center.

Throughout the day, residents got a firsthand look at various aspects of emergency response, including vehicle extrication, tactical medicine with our MedOps team, our prehospital blood program, and fireground operations.

Opportunities like this help strengthen the connection between prehospital care and the emergency department, while giving our medical partners a better understanding of what happens before a patient arrives at the hospital.

Thank you to our Deputy Medical Director, Dr. Infanzon, for organizing the event and helping bring our teams together for a great day of hands-on learning!

A total of 53 recruits are beginning their journey with Cobb Fire. This morning, they met with Chief Cunningham and members of our command staff to hear about their experiences, lessons learned and advice for building a successful career in the fire service.
