Traffic Alert 🚨

The Georgia Department of Transportation will be closing the Powers Ferry Road bridge over the Chattahoochee between Cobb and Sandy Springs Tuesday - Thursday, Sept. 1-3. It is the second of two scheduled closures for bridge maintenance. A detour route is available on Interstate North Pkwy.

During its regular meeting Tuesday, the Board of Commissioners appointed Lee Vaughn (fourth from right) as Cobb County's new Facilities Management director. He has worked with Facilities Management since 2005, beginning as a maintenance technician III before becoming a skilled craft supervisor, facilities supervisor, maintenance supervisor, facilities project manager, custodial service manager, property maintenance manager and construction division manager. He has served as Facilities Management deputy director since 2024 and became the interim director in June.

Vaughn's career with Cobb is tied with years of building projects in the county, including involvement with the Police Training Academy, East Cobb Library, Child Support Services, police headquarters, the employee gymnasium, police Precinct 6, the Board of Elections headquarters, and the Community Development renovation. He is a 2011 graduate of the Excel program. Congratulations to Vaughn on his new position!
