Join MBEP in supporting more local funding for workforce housing Tuesday, June 9th at 1:30pm in Salinas!

MBEP supports staff’s recommendation to complete pre ballot feasibility analysis and community engagement for a Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) if at least 51% of the funds will be targeted to housing programs and projects to meet the urgent needs of local residents.

Recent polling has found that 59% of likely voters support a TOT increase of 2% (10.5% to 12.5%). Paid by hotel lodging guests, it would generate approximately $7.6 Million annually for a wide variety of County services including housing, infrastructure, healthcare, recreation, and public safety. Polling shows strong support for funding housing programs and projects that meet local needs.

Join us at tomorrow’s meeting (6/9) of the Monterey County Board of Supervisors Meeting in person: 168 W. Alisal in Salinas at 1:30pm.

You can also submit your supportive comment to [email protected] before 5pm, today. Be sure to include the item number and why you support more funding to create housing for all in our community!

Recent national and regional media coverage has highlighted Hollister Municipal Airport's growing role as both an economic engine for San Benito County and a key hub for aviation innovation in the Monterey Bay region.

From the airport's $40.9 million annual economic impact to its role supporting next-generation aviation companies such as Wisk Aero, Joby Aviation, Alef Aeronautics, and others, Hollister is helping shape the future of mobility while creating jobs and economic opportunity close to home.

A recent economic impact study found that Hollister Municipal Airport supports 268 jobs and generates more than $40.9 million in annual economic output, underscoring its importance to the local and regional economy.

As Airport Director Jeff Crechriou shared:

"The City of Hollister and the Hollister Municipal Airport are focused on economic development and economic growth with an emphasis on commercial development."

As one of the four airports participating in the California Advanced Air Mobility Corridors Initiative (CAAMCI), Hollister Municipal Airport is helping position the Monterey Bay region as a leader in Advanced Air Mobility and next-generation aviation.

Congratulations to Jeff, the City of Hollister, and the entire airport team on this well-deserved recognition. We're proud to partner with you and look forward to supporting the airport's continued growth and success.
