Interesting article on cholesterol in breastmilk..check it out!

Cholesterol is found in human milk. Cholesterol? Yes. The evil, artery-hardening substance we are all warned against over-consuming.

It is an essential component of cell membranes, required for growth, cell division and maintenance of the cell wall. Cholesterol is required for cognitive, visual and neurological development. Infants fed human milk have higher cholesterol levels than those who are not. So cholesterol in an infant’s diet must be normal.

Cholesterol is present in higher concentrations in colostrum but remains elevated throughout lactation. It may also give the breastfed child an improved ability to metabolize dietary cholesterol later in life. Breastmilk fights evil.
