Want to more about the upcoming Theatre on the Bay musical The Last Five Years? The show is Jason Robert Brown’s intimate window into a couple’s doomed marriage. Cathy, a struggling actress, and Jamie, a budding novelist on the brink of wild success, are 20-somethings in New York who meet, fall in love, marry, and divorce over the span of five years. Cathy tells the story from the end of their marriage; Jamie begins from when they first meet. As the musical unfolds, Cathy moves backward in time to the beginning of the relationship as Jamie moves toward the end; they meet only once, in the middle, at their wedding. Since its Off-Broadway premiere in 2002, Brown’s funny, poignant, and devastatingly honest two-person production has enraptured audiences around the world with its spellbinding and emotional score and libretto. To get your tickets visit https://www.uwgb.edu/marinette/fine-performing-arts/theatre/

For those interested in auditioning for Seussical Jr: Please be prepared to sing 16-32 bars of a song of your choice. You will need to bring your own sheet music to give to an accompanist that we will have there. This song should preferably be from another musical (for example: Annie, Matilda, Shrek, etc...). However, sing whatever you are comfortable with! I will also be asking each student auditioning to have a monologue prepared. These do not need to be memorized but it'd be great if they were. There are a lot of sources for Children's monologues online. The audition will consist of the song monologue and possibly cold reading from the script. The callback will consist of a dance audition, more singing and reading from the script. You are welcome to email me with any questions you may have at [email protected] and I can't wait to see what kind of turnout we have!
