ion that has been serving area seniors for over 40 years. Our mission is to promote the healthy aging, well-being and independence of older adults by providing health, wellness, educational, cultural, and recreational programs and services. What do we do? We offer daily social activities, special programs and presentations, social gatherings, enrichment classes, fitness classes, clinics and more here at our center. We serve not only as a gathering place for older adults, but also as a community gathering place, offering opportunities for intergenerational activities, events and more, along with acting as a resource hub for information on services available to area seniors, their caregivers and families. Community Potting Party:

On Monday, June 1st we will be having our Community Potting Party from 11:00am-12:30pm with the help of The Northern Lights Master Gardeners to make our community bloom. We'll be planting beautiful flowers in large planters around the city for summer. We would love your help. No experience needed. Just bring your gloves and tools and be ready to get a little dirty. Wear comfy clothes, bring water, sunscreen, and bug spray. Please RSVP by calling The Marinette Senior Center at (715)732.1280. The rain date will be Tuesday, June 2nd. Please call the front office in case of possible weather cancellation.

Monthly Craft Activities:

On Monday, June 8th at 10:00am, one of our members, Holly, will be showing you how to make a Hanging Crystal Suncatcher. No crafting experience needed, and all the supplies will be provided. Space is limited, so please make sure to register at the front desk. The cost is $5/members, and $8/guests.

On June 15th, our member Barb will be leading a class on how to make a Positive Vibes Key Chain. Class will be at 10:00am, and the cost is $4/members, and $7/guests. No crafting experience is needed, and all the supplies will be provided. Advance registration is required. Please call the front office at (715)732.1280 to register.

Then on Monday, June 29th we have a Garden Fairy Wand craft. Each wand will have its own creative touch. Colors and designs will vary. No experience is needed, and all supplies will be provided. Monthly Fitness Classes:

Would you like to stay active, and keep on moving? Well, we have several options for you to choose from;

Line Dancing on Tuesdays from 9:30-11:00am will help you improve balance, coordination, enhance memory, and is a lot of fun! The cost is $2 per class, paid to the instructor.

Please come join our fitness instructor Ruth Maguire who teaches the following classes, which include Tuesday Yoga Pilates at 4:00pm, Wednesday Chair Yoga at 8:00am, and Thursday Beginner Yoga at 4:00pm. Please call our front office at (715)732.1280 during business hours for prices and start dates. Advance registration, PAYMENT IS REQUIRED. Please note, CLASSES MAY NOT RUN IF LESS THAN SIX PARTICIPANTS REGISTER. Additionally, we have Women and Strength program that currently runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00-9:00am and is sponsored by The Advanced wellness and Physical Therapy. This session runs until July 23rd. Please call The Marinette Senior Center for details of when the next session starts, and the prices.

Lastly, we have a new Cardio Remix class that is held on Thursdays from 9:30-10:30am. If you like a high intensity work out, this class is for you. It is a mix up of yoga, aerobics, strength training, dance fitness, and more. This class will build your cardio, endurance, and strength. There will be no class held on Thursday, June 4th.

Monthly Cards:

Do you like to play games? If yes, please join us at The Marinette Senior Center for card games galore! Mondays we have Pokeno from 10:30-11:30am, followed by Farkle from 11:30am-1:00pm, and Smear from 11:00am-2:15pm. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays you'll find our Pinochle group having a fantastic time from 11:30am-2:15pm. Wednesdays start off with Bingo from 10:30am-12:00pm, with one of our sponsors; Rennes Group, Cornerstone Caregiving, The Cottages, and Unity. Then its Hand and Foot from 11:00am-2:00pm. Our Mahjong group would love to have you join them on Thursdays from 12:30-2:15pm, and Fridays from 10:00am-1:00pm. Finally, on Fridays we have a Cribbage group that meets from 10:00-11:30am. Wonderful Wednesdays:

On Wednesday, June 3rd we will have The Northern Lights Master Gardeners at The Marinette Senior Center from 3:00-4:00pm to talk about keeping your plants safe, controlling nature wildlife, hardening of your plants, and fertilizers demystified. On Wednesday, June 10th, we have our Book To Big Screen from 12:30-2:30pm. This month we are showing the movie People We Meet on Vacation. It is about two best friends who are total opposites and they take a summer vacation together and explore their difficult relationship and a romance that might blossom.

On June 17th our monthly speaker is Hope Mehlberg, an animal lover who drives twenty dogs around in her K9 Konvoy bus. She takes them to a dog park that is situated on her three acres of her family's land. Hope was just featured in People magazine and on the nightly news. She will speak from 12:30-1:30pm at The Marinette Senior Center.

Memory Screenings with Dementia Care Specialist:

On Thursday, June 4th we have our memory screenings w/ Dementia Care Specialist from 11:00am-12:00pm at The Marinette Senior Center. The memory screenings provide a helpful baseline of cognitive health and can support future planning, because brain health matters at every age. To schedule an appointment please call the ADRC at (715)732.3850, and ask for the Dementia Care Specialist. Walk-Ins are welcome and will be seen in order of arrival. All screenings are private and confidential.

Foot and Blood Pressure Clinic:

Don't forget about our monthly foot clinic with Registered Nurse Diane held on Thursday, June 11th, Wednesday, June 17th, and Thursday, June 18th from 9:00am-2:00pm. The cost is $15/members, and $20/guests per person, paid directly to the nurse. Clients will need to soak their feet for twenty minutes before their appointment. Advance registration is required. Compassus Hospice offers a grief support group that is helpful in grieving the loss of a loved one. They meet every fourth Thursday of the month from 1:00-2:30pm at The Marinette Senior Center, at 1603 Ludington St., Marinette. They will meet on June 25th. No pre-registration is required.
