🇺🇸 LABOR DAY WEEKEND SAFETY | MARION POLICE DEPARTMENT 🇺🇸

As Labor Day weekend begins, the Marion Police Department wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend.

Throughout the weekend, our officers will be conducting increased patrols throughout the City of Marion, with an emphasis on traffic safety, impaired driving, speeding, reckless driving, and other violations that could put our community at risk.

If your plans include traveling or celebrating this weekend, please remember:

🚔 Drive sober…never drink and drive.
🚦 Obey posted speed limits and traffic laws.
📵 Put the phone down and stay focused on the road.
đź’ş Make sure everyone in your vehicle is properly restrained.
đź‘€ Stay alert and watch for pedestrians, motorcycles, and other motorists.
🔑 Plan ahead and designate a sober driver when necessary.

Our goal is not only enforcement, but to help ensure that everyone makes it home safely.

You can expect to see the Marion Police Department out and visible throughout the holiday weekend. Please do your part by making responsible decisions behind the wheel and looking out for one another.

The Perry County Sheriff’s Office wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend. Whether traveling or spending time with family and friends, remember to drive sober, buckle up, slow down, put the phone down, and watch out for others.

Our deputies will be out serving and protecting Perry County throughout the holiday weekend.

📌 OFFICE CLOSURE NOTICE: The Perry County Sheriff’s Office will be closed for the Labor Day holiday and will reopen Tuesday, September 8, 2026. If you have an emergency, please call 911.

Take care of yourself and one another, and most importantly—make it home safely.

Press Release

The Perry County Sheriff’s Office is providing an update regarding the recent threat involving a local school in Perry County.

A 14-year-old suspect has been identified and charged with Making a Terrorist Threat in connection with the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.

Because the suspect is a juvenile, no additional identifying information will be released at this time.

The Perry County Sheriff’s Office takes all threats involving schools, students, faculty, and staff seriously. We appreciate the cooperation of school officials and community members during this investigation.

Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Perry County Sheriff’s Office at 334-683-6534.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

PUBLIC SAFETY NOTICE

The Perry County Sheriff’s Office has been notified of a threat involving a local school within Perry County. The Sheriff’s Office takes any threat involving our students, teachers, and school staff very seriously.

The Perry County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the matter and is working closely with school officials to ensure the safety and security of everyone involved.

At this time, the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this threat is encouraged to contact the Perry County Sheriff’s Office at 334-683-6534.
