Marion Fire Department personnel have been out flowing hydrants today to prepare for the upcoming ISO inspection. This inspection has a large impact on what your insurance rates are for property in town. We have a few more hydrants to flow to finish up. In the near future we will also be out flowing, painting, and marking hydrants in town to identify available water from hydrants per the NFPA standard. Sorry for any inconvenience this has and will cause.

Marion Fire Department responded to a substantial gas leak in the 1500 block of East Main today. Atmos detected unsafe gas levels in the nearby apartments; it was determined that residents needed to evacuate. Firefighters, law enforcement, EMS, Emergency Management personnel, city crew & building staff assisted in evacuating residents of the apartments to a nearby facility. We are thankful that facility provided a safe, air conditioned space for those who were displaced for nearly 3 hours during the heat of the day. After the gas leak was contained, the area was tested again for gas levels, Atmos cleared the housing units for re-entry.
A big thanks to our cooperating partners for your assistance in this potentially life threatening situation!

This brave fella stands guard on the corner of 5th and Main sponsored by Gene Winkler of G&J Video. Leave it to a man who gives so much of his time and energy in service of his community to request that his rhino decoration honor another group of incredible community servants - Marion's Volunteer Fire Department. We are blessed beyond belief to have both! Thank you Cecilia Jones for the hard work preparing this gentleman for his debut!
