“I DON’T KNOW HOW TO HELP…”

Domestic violence situations are often far more complicated than they appear from the outside. Survivors may not be ready, able, or safe enough to share every detail — and that’s okay. Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is simply listen, believe, and support without judgment. 💜

At Hands of Hope, we want our community to know that helping doesn’t always mean having all the answers. It means meeting survivors where they are, when they are ready.

June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about the unique mental health challenges men and boys face, while encouraging open conversations about seeking support.

Research shows it can take more than 10 years for many people to seek mental health support. For men and boys, that delay is often even longer due to stigma, pressure to appear “strong,” and fear of being vulnerable. The consequences can be devastating. Men are significantly more likely to die by su***de and less likely to access mental health care early. Mental health challenges do not have to be faced alone. Checking in, starting conversations, and encouraging support can make a life-saving difference.

☎️ If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 to connect with a trained counselor 24/7 for free and confidential support.

Thank you to our partners, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, National Council for Mental Wellbeing, and Founding Investor Harry's!

Leaving an abusive relationship is not the end of the healing journey — it’s often just the beginning. 💜

Trauma doesn’t simply disappear once the relationship ends. Survivors may continue to experience anxiety, fear, PTSD, depression, difficulty trusting others, or emotional triggers long after leaving an unsafe situation.

Healing takes time, support, patience, and compassion. Let’s continue creating a community that supports survivors without judgment and understands that recovery is not linear. 🦋

Violence prevention starts at home. 💜

The way we teach, guide, and model behavior for our children today helps shape the relationships and communities of tomorrow. When we teach respect, kindness, healthy communication, and boundaries, we help break cycles of violence before they begin.

Every child deserves to grow up knowing that love should feel safe, supportive, and respectful.

Together, we can break the cycle. 🦋

Gun violence and domestic violence are deeply connected, and too often, the consequences are devastating.

On National Gun Violence Awareness Day, we remember those whose lives have been lost and stand with survivors, families, and communities affected by violence. Everyone deserves the freedom to live without fear.

“IT’S NOT THAT SIMPLE…”

Leaving an abusive situation is rarely as simple as people think. Fear, finances, children, safety concerns, emotional trauma, housing, and countless other factors can make these situations incredibly difficult to navigate. Survivors deserve compassion — not criticism.

This message is a reminder to our community: support victims where they are. Avoid asking “why don’t they just leave?” and instead ask, “how can I support you?” 💜
