We are pleased to announce the addition of our two new School Resource Officers to our school systems. Deputy Joe Witherspoon will serve as our High School/Middle School SRO and Deputy Amy Santiago will serve as our Elementary School SRO. These officers will play an important role in helping maintain a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment for our students, staff, and families.

School Resource Officers serve as positive role models and trusted members of the school community. In addition to supporting school safety, they will build relationships with students, provide guidance and mentorship, and work closely with school staff and local law enforcement.

Please join us in welcoming our two new School Resource Officers to the school community. We look forward to the positive impact they will have as we continue working together to provide a safe and welcoming environment where every student can learn and succeed.

2:00PM update: roadway is back open

TRUCK OVERTURNS ON 120
MARION, Ky. - A semi-truck hauling steel tubing overturned Thursday morning about 8:30am on KY 120 east of Marion near Cave Springs Church Road in rural Crittenden County, spilling its load across the highway and blocking both lanes.

The trailer came to rest on its side, with dozens of long steel tubes scattered across the roadway. Emergency responders, including law enforcement and an ambulance crew, were on the scene.
No injuries were apparent at the scene, according to initial reports by Sheriff Evan Head.

Motorists should expect the roadway to remain closed for a time while crews remove the wreckage and recover the cargo. We will update this post when the roadway becomes back open

3:34PM update: roadway is now open

HIGHWAY 60 CLOSED MILE NORTH OF MARION
U.S. 60 East is closed about one mile northeast of Marion after a tractor-trailer hauling tires crashed, leaving the highway impassable. The roadway will likely remain closed for an extended period while crews conduct cleanup and recovery operations.

Motorists should seek alternate routes and avoid the area if possible. Drivers are also reminded that the KY 654 bridge east of Mattoon remains closed, making that route unavailable as a bypass between Marion and Mattoon.

Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
