Hello,
Please find attached the September 2026 Summer Crisis Program (SCP) Press Release for distribution.
September is the FINAL MONTH to Apply for the 2026 Summer Crisis Program!
Income-eligible households who have not yet applied are encouraged to schedule their appointment as soon as possible. The 2026 Summer Crisis Program will end September 30, 2026, and no new SCP applications can be started after that date.
Applicants must schedule an appointment by either:
• Calling the automated appointment hotline at (740) 396-8237, or
• Scheduling online at app.capappointments.com.
The appointment hotline serves residents in Crawford, Marion, and Morrow Counties and may experience high call volumes during peak periods. We kindly ask applicants to be patient and continue trying the hotline if they are unable to get through on their first attempt.
Ohio Heartland Community Action Commission (OHCAC) offers clients the option of completing their appointment in person or by telephone. However, applicants who are eligible for and wish to receive an air conditioner or fan must complete a face-to-face appointment at one of our office locations.
Please help us spread the word that September is the last opportunity to apply for the 2026 Summer Crisis Program. We encourage eligible households to schedule their appointments early and not wait until the end of the month.

OHCAC is currently seeking Weatherization and Electric/HVAC/Plumbing/Roofing contractors for our Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) program . If you are interested or would like more information please contact Joseph Main, Deputy Director / Energy Coordinator at (740) 387-1039 Ext. 1121.
Listed below are the required documentation and trainings needed:
Contractors performing Weatherization work require documentation of the following:
• Liability Insurance
• Current Worker's Comp Certificate of Premium Payment
• EPA Firm Certification
• Individual Employee Lead EPA-RRP certificates
• Basic Weatherization Tactics
• Blower Door Use
• ASHRAE 62.2/Indoor Air Quality
• OSHA 10
Contractors performing HVAC work require documentation of the following:
• Liability Insurance
• Current Worker's Comp Certificate of Premium Payment
• EPA Firm Certification
• Individual Employee Lead EPA-RRP certificates
Contractors performing other types of work such as Plumbing, Electrical, or Roofing require documentation of the following:
• Liability Insurance
• Current Workers’ Compensation Certificate of Premium Payment
• EPA Firm Certification
• Individual Employee Lead EPA-RRP certificates
• Applicable Licenses (Plumbing, Electrical, General, etc.). Electrical contractor are required to be state licensed
