‼️STRAYS OF THE DAY‼️

Starting off this Monday heavy. Our shelter is past max capacity. Please if you recognize these dogs reach out to us ASAP.

Male —> found on Pleasant Hill Dr with a gunshot to the shoulder. He is being treated for his injuries at the veterinarian.

Mom and pup —> found near the railroad tracks on Moodytown. The mother is injured and is also at the vet being treated for her injures. The puppy is not injured but stayed by her mamas side ❤️‍🩹

The sweet girl was found in Linville Gorge area between Conley Cove trailhead and Rock Jock Trailhead.

Dear McDowell County,

Our tiny shelter cannot take much more.

This week alone, Animal Control has received five calls about abandoned dogs. Just this morning, they received another call—this time for a mama dog and her five puppies.

This has to stop.

Abandonment is not the answer. What many people don’t realize is that every animal brought to an already-overcrowded shelter forces us to make incredibly difficult decisions—the very decisions no one wants us to have to make.

We are reaching a breaking point. We simply do not have the space, resources, or capacity to continue taking in animals at this rate.

Please, if you are struggling with your animal, reach out before abandoning them. Ask for help. Talk to someone. Be responsible. And if we cannot help, please do everything you can to keep your animal safe and find a responsible solution.

These animals did not ask to be abandoned. They depend on us to do better.

McDowell County, we need your help. Please take responsibility for the animals you choose to bring into your lives.
