Today, the members of the Washington Township Fire Department pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend — it is a time to reflect on the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who gave their lives protecting the freedoms we enjoy every day.

We extend our deepest gratitude to all Gold Star families and to those currently serving our country. Your sacrifice and commitment will never be forgotten.

From all of us at the Washington Township Fire Department, we wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

PSA: DO NOT try any type of outdoor burning today. As one of my favorite old ladies often asked me during my adolescence, “What’s a matter with you, are you stupid or something??”.

While we are at it, DO NOT run a generator in any type of enclosed area, DO NOT back feed with “suicide cords” or the such. DO use appropriate sized cords for the loads. DO let generators cool down before refueling.

DO NOT BE STUPID OR SOMETHING!!

Congratulations, Jase!! Thank you for your commitment and service to Washington Twp Fire and the City of Marion.

A proud moment for the Marion Fire Department. 🚒

Jason Hale Jr. has officially completed his probationary period and was sworn in as a firefighter on March 2, 2026, by Deputy Fire Chief Eddie Overmyer.

Jason finished his probation on February 24, marking an important milestone in his fire service journey and the beginning of a long career serving the Marion community.

This moment is also special for the department as Jason becomes a second-generation firefighter, following in the footsteps of his father, Retired Fire Captain Jason Hale Sr.

Congratulations to Jason Hale Jr. as he officially joins the ranks of the Marion Fire Department. Thank you for stepping up to serve our community. 👏🚒
